11. Atom probe tomography of Zircaloy-2 exposed to boiling water reactor operation
Abstract : Zirconium alloys are used as cladding tubes for the fuel in nuclear reactors. In boiling water reactors (BWRs), the alloy Zircaloy-2, which contains the alloying elements Sn, Fe, Cr, Ni, and O, is commonly used. READ MORE

12. Optimization of Metamorphic Materials on GaAs Grown by MBE
Abstract : Advanced epitaxial technologies such as molecular beam epitaxy (MBE) and metal-organic vapor phase epitaxy (MOVPE) have enabled the idea of semiconductor heterostructures, which built up the foundation of the fast developing information and communication technology nowadays. Lattice mismatch has been a problem limiting designs of semiconductor heterostructures. READ MORE

13. Novel Materials and Technologies for IR Optoelectronic Applications
Abstract : This thesis focuses on novel III-V materials (InAs/GaSb type-II superlattices, T2SL, and dilute bismides) and metamorphic growth techniques for infrared optoelectronics all of which may find wide spread applications in telecommunication, energy harvesting and saving, sensing and imaging. Mid-wavelength infrared (MWIR) and long-wavelength infrared (LWIR) photodetectors at the atmospheric windows of 3-5 and 8-12 µm, respectively, are currently dominated by HgCdTe and quantum well infrared photodetectors. 14. Evolution of microstructure and nanoscale chemistry of Zircaloy-2-type alloys during nuclear reactor operation
Abstract : Zirconium alloys are used as fuel cladding tubes in nuclear reactors. During reactor operation, these alloys are degraded by corrosion, hydrogen pickup (HPU), and radiation-induced growth, processes influenced by the alloying elements. READ MORE

15. Creep Behaviour of Titanium Aluminides and its Relation to Phase Distributions and Dislocation Structures
Abstract : The need for more efficient gas turbines with lowered fuel consumption and thereby lowered emission has recently lead to increased interest in low-density, .gamma.-based TiAl intermetallic alloys as a replacement of e.g. READ MORE
