  1. 6. Modeling Flow and Solute Transport in Packed Beds : Applications in On-site Wastewater Treatment Systems

    Author : Amir Jourak; Krishna M. Pillai; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Strömningslära; Fluid Mechanics;

    Abstract : The use of separate phosphorus (P) filter units containing replaceable filter materials with a high P binding capacity have been suggested as an appropriate passive method to treat the P from pre-treated domestic wastewater in on-site facilities. A large number of materials have been identified and suggested as being potentially suitable for such filters. READ MORE

  2. 7. Faraday modulation spectroscopy : Theoretical description and experimental realization for detection of nitric oxide

    Author : Jonas Westberg; Ove Axner; Gerard Wysocki; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Faraday modulation spectroscopy FAMOS ; Westberg-Wang-Axner WWA method; Fourier coefficients; Lineshape asymmetries; Nitric oxide NO ; fysik; Physics;

    Abstract : Faraday modulation spectroscopy (FAMOS) is a laser-based spectroscopic dispersion technique for detection of paramagnetic molecules in gas phase. This thesis presents both a new theoretical description of FAMOS and experimental results from the ultra-violet (UV) as well as the mid-infrared (MIR) regions. READ MORE

  3. 8. Fracture Behaviour of adhesive Joints in carton board

    Author : Christer Korin; Gunnar Engström; Erik Serrano; Karlstads universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Chemical engineering; Kemiteknik; Chemical Engineering; Kemiteknik;

    Abstract : A carton-board package is often sealed and closed with an adhesive. Package requirements vary depending on how the package is to be used. A package that is only supposed to protect the product during transport differs from one that is supposed to attract consumers and facilitate the use of the product by consumers. READ MORE

  4. 9. Transfer of Angular Momentum in Astrophysical Discs

    Author : Mattias Wahde; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY;

    Abstract : In this thesis a study of astrophysical discs, with emphasis on galactic discs, is presented. The frictional force acting on a small satellite galaxy, moving on a co-planar circular orbit in a galactic disc, is shown to be only weakly dependent on the velocity dispersion and the self-gravity of the disc. 5. 10. Effects of Flow Structure on Particle Separation in Dissolved Air Flotation

    Author : Måns Lundh; Institutioner vid LTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; plasma; Environmental technology; pollution control; Miljöteknik; kontroll av utsläpp; Gases; fluid dynamics; plasmas; Gaser; fluiddynamik; Teknik; Technological sciences; modelling; retention time distribution; acoustic doppler velocimeter; flow structure; separation; water treatment; wastewater treatment;

    Abstract : Dissolved Air Flotation (DAF) is a separation process in water and wastewater treatment. The removal function is based on reducing the density of the particle by producing aggregates of the particles and added micro-bubbles of air, thus lifting the aggregates to the water surface, where they can be removed as sludge.
