  1. 1. Ultra precision metrology : the key for mask lithography and manufacturing of high definition displays

    Author : Peter Ekberg; Lars Mattsson; Torgny Carlsson; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Ultra precision metrology; LCD-display; OLED-display; nm-resolution; large area; random phase measurement; acousto-optic deflection; scanning; 2D measurement; mask; CCD; CMOS; image processing; edge detection; TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIKVETENSKAP; Manufacturing engineering; Produktionsteknik;

    Abstract : Metrology is the science of measurement. It is also a prerequisite for maintaining a high quality in all manufacturing processes. In this thesis we will present the demands and solutions for ultra-precision metrology in the manufacturing of lithography masks for the TV-display industry. READ MORE

  2. 2. Multifunctional Nanocellulose Composite Materials

    Author : Olof Eskilson; Daniel Aili; Robert Selegård; Erik Martinsson; Aji Mathew; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; nanomaterials; nanocomposites; bacterial cellulose; wound care; plasmonics; catalysis;

    Abstract : Nanoparticles (NPs) are particles with more than one dimension between 1 and 100 nm. Because of their small size, they typically display different physical and chemical properties than the corresponding bulk materials. NPs have been used in many different applications, such as in electronics, optics, catalysis, and in biomedicine. READ MORE

  3. 3. Synthesis and characterization of Mo- and W-based atomic laminates

    Author : Rahele Meshkian; Johanna Rosén; Per Persson; Arni Sigurdur Ingason; Michael Naguib; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY;

    Abstract : Mn+1AXn (MAX) phases are inherently nanolaminated compounds based on transition metals (M), A group elements (A), and carbon or/and nitrogen (X), which exhibit a unique combination of ceramic and metallic properties. My thesis work has focused on exploring novel MAX phase chemistries, including elemental combinations beyond those traditionally used for MAX phases, and their graphene-analogous 2D counterpart, MXenes. 4. 4. Multiscale materials design of hard coatings for improved fracture resistance and thermal stability

    Author : Phani Kumar Yalamanchili; Magnus Odén; Naureen Ghafoor; Emilio Jiménez-Piqué; Jon Molina; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Abstract : Physical vapor deposited hard coatings comprised of cubic (c) transition metal (TM)-Al-N, and (TM)-Si-N are the current workhorse materials for a large number of metal cutting and wear resistant applications to fight against the extreme conditions of temperature and stress simultaneously. In spite of a high degree of sophistication in terms of material choice and microstructural design, a lower fracture resistance and limited thermal stability of the coatings remains a technological challenge in the field. 5. 5. The Ultimate Display

    Author : Alexandru Dancu; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Static Projector; Perception; Mobile Projector; Flexible Materials; Deformable Displays; Physical World; Interactive Space; Dynamic Environment;

    Abstract : In 1965 Ivan E. Sutherland envisioned the Ultimate Display, a room in which a computer can directly control the existence of matter.This type of display would merge the digital and the physical world, dramatically changing how people interact with computers. READ MORE
