  1. 1. Some factors affecting the amount of residual phase lignin during kraft pulping

    Author : Mikael E. Lindström; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Deligniflcation; Residual phase lignin; Hydrogensulfide ion; Hydroxide ion; Polysulfides; Ionic strength; Temperature; Lignin; Kraftpulping; Selectivity; viscosity; Kappa number; chemical degradation; Disproportionation; Cellulose and paper engineering; Cellulosa- och pappersteknik;

    Abstract : The amount of lignin which needs to be removed according to the slow residual delignification phase in kraft pulping, i e residual phase lignin, has been studied as a function of the process conditions. The variebles studied were the concentrations of hydroxide ions, hydrogensulfide ions, sodium ions (ionic strength) and temperature. READ MORE

  2. 2. Chemical Processes at the Water-Manganite (γ-MnOOH) Interface

    Author : Madeleine Ramstedt; Staffan Sjöberg; Per Persson; Lars Lövgren; Steven A. Banwart; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Inorganic chemistry; manganite; γ-MnOOH; mineral surface; acid-base properties; adsorption; Cd II ; N- phosphonomethyl glycine; glyphosate; PMG; surface complex; dissolution; disproportionation; XPS; EXAFS; infrared spectroscopy; SEM; AFM; potentiometry; electrophoresis; Oorganisk kemi; Inorganic chemistry; Oorganisk kemi; oorganisk kemi; Inorganic Chemistry;

    Abstract : The chemistry of mineral surfaces is of great importance in many different areas including natural processes occurring in oceans, rivers, lakes and soils. Manganese (hydr)oxides are one important group to these natural processes, and the thermodynamically most stable trivalent manganese (hydr)oxide, manganit (γ-MnOOH), is studied in this thesis. 3. 3. Nucleoside phosphoramidates and related compounds : development of synthetic methods based on H-phosphonate chemistry

    Author : Inger Kers; Wojciech J. Stec; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Organic Chemistry; organisk kemi;

    Abstract : In this thesis, studies directed towards development of new synthetic methods for the preparation of nucleotide analogues of potential medical value as antisense, antigene or antiviral agents, are described.Two methods for synthesis of N3'->P5' and P3'->N5' phosphoramidate analogues with the nitrogen atom in bridging position of the internucleotide linkage was developed. 4. 4. In situ X-Ray Spectroscopy of Ethylene Epoxidation over Ag and studies of Li-ion batteries and Cu sulfidation

    Author : Paw Kristiansen; Laurent Duda; Thorsten Schmitt; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; In situ; XAS; RIXS; heterogeneous catalysis; Physics with spec. in Atomic; Molecular and Condensed Matter Physics; Fysik med inriktning mot atom- molekyl- och kondenserande materiens fysik;

    Abstract : This thesis is based on experiments applying synchrotron based X-ray Absorption Spectroscopy(XAS) and Resonant Inelastic X-ray Scattering (RIXS) in the soft X-ray region to energy related systems. The main work of this thesis has been to develop a reaction cell that allowed for in situ XAS and RIXS investigations of the partial epoxidation of ethylene over a Ag catalyst at 1 atm and up to 250C. 5. 5. Sorption and Surface Complexation of Plutonium

    Author : Mattias Olsson; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Abstract : Plutonium is a constituent of spent nuclear fuel. As such, its behavior in contact with the surfaces of solids is of interest. This behavior will affect the migration of plutonium in case it is released into the environment. The chemistry of plutonium is rather complex. READ MORE
