  1. 1. The Fight on the Flights : Emergency evacuations – human physiological performance, leg muscle activity and gait biomechanics during exhaustive stair and slope ascent

    Author : Amitava Halder; Ergonomi och aerosolteknologi; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Stair climbing evacuation; Physical work capacity; Physiological constraints; Endurance; Energy expenditure; Oxygen consumption; Electromyography; Muscle fatigue; Incline gait biomechanics; Ground reaction forces; Required coefficient of friction;

    Abstract : Physical exhaustion can constrain stair ascending capacity during emergency evacuation. The overall aim of this research was to explore and compare stair ascending capacities and physiological limitations when using two different modes: 1) self-preferred pace on three different public stairways, and 2) four machine-controlled paces on a stair machine corresponding to different percentages of maximal aerobic capacity (V̇O2max). Abstract : IntroductionPaper I: An Artificial Neural Network (ANN) was constructed to identify ST Elevation Myocardial Infarction (STEMI) and predict the need for Percutaneous Coronary Intervention (PCI). Paper II, III and IV: Studies suggest that O2 therapy may be harmful in STEMI patients. READ MORE

  3. 3. Regulation of the myogenic response and stretch-induced calcium signaling in the vascular wall: Novel insights into the role of microRNAs and protein tyrosine kinase 2

    Author : Anirban Bhattachariya; Kärlfysiologi; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; portal vein; resistance artery; myogenic tone; PYK2; calcium; microRNA;

    Abstract : Intraluminal pressure has a significant impact on vascular adaptability, phenotype and regulation of blood flow and pressure. On one hand, increased pressure/stretch for a prolonged time can cause structural changes in vessel wall; on the other hand, lack of pressure/stretch can promote a phenotype shift. READ MORE

  4. 4. Aspects of PET-CT in prostate cancer. Protocol optimization, diagnostic accuracy, and dosimetry

    Author : Mimmi Bjöersdorff; Malmö Nuklearmedicin; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; PET-CT; Prostatacancer; [18F]FCH; [18F]PSMA-1007; optimering; diagnostisk noggrannhet; dosimetri; PET-CT; Prostate Cancer; [18F]FCH; [18F]PSMA-1007; Optimization; Diagnostic accuracy; Dosimetric;

    Abstract : The PET-CT imaging modality is based on positron emission tomography combined with computed tomography. Before a PET-CT examination, a radioactive tracer (also called a radiopharmaceutical) is intravenously injected into the patient. PET technology images the distribution of this tracer element by detecting the decay. READ MORE

  5. 5. Gut Feelings - From Brain to Gut and from Lumen to Gut

    Author : Xiaowen Cheng; Neurogastroenterologi; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Enteric nervous system; cerebral ischemia; galectine-3; tuft cell; CGRP; CCK; GLP-1; 5HT; PYY;

    Abstract : Part 1: From Brain to GutThe brain is an organ with a high energy requirement. To meet this demand, the brain needs a continuous and well-regulated blood supply. In situations where the brain, or parts of the brain, does not receive sufficient blood flow injury arise. READ MORE
