1. Chronic Gastritis : Diagnosis, natural history and consequences
Abstract : Background & alms: The main cause of chronic gastritis is Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori). Clinical manifestations of chronic gastritis are ulcer disease, gastric cancer and mucosa-associated lymphoma tissue (MALT) lymphoma in the stomach. It is uncertain whether gastritis can be diagnosed macroscopically at endoscopy. READ MORE

2. Aspects on clinical diagnosis of dementia, with focus on biological markers
Abstract : The clinical dementia diagnosis has become more complex with increasing knowledge of the heterogeneity of the disorder and its different aetiological aspects. A clinical dementia population and a control group were investigated with the following aims: I. READ MORE

3. Effects of nitric oxide on gastric acid secretion in human gastric mucosa : functional and morphological studies
Abstract : Hydrochloric acid (HCI) is secreted in high amounts by parietal cells in the human gastric mucosa and the resulting low pH constitutes an important factor for creating a suitable environment for the digestion. The normal gastric mucosa is equipped with an arsenal of protective mechanisms against the extreme chemical environment which the gastric acid creates. READ MORE

4. Identification and characterisation of bacteria based on 16S rDNA techniques with special reference to Helicobacter pylori in the gastro-intestinal tract
Abstract : The overall aim of this study was to establish molecular techniques for the detection and identification of "difficult to grow" - bacteria in mixed bacterial populations in clinical samples without the need for culturing procedures.Material and Methods: Thirty-nine strains of Mobiluncus were used as a model system for phylogenetic classification of fastidious bacteria based on 16S ribosomal DNA (rDNA) sequences. 5. Experimental Helicobacter pylori infection in an animal model
Abstract : Background: Helicobacter pylori is a microaerophilic Gram-negative bacterium colonizing the human stomach. The prevalence of this infection is between 20-90% depending on geographic location. Comprehensive studies have shown significant relationships between H. pylori infection and chronic gastritis, peptic ulcer and gastric carcinoma. READ MORE
