  1. 1. Real-Time Communication Services for Distributed Computing over Switched Ethernet

    Author : Xing Fan; Magnus Jonsson; Högskolan i Halmstad; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Switched Ethernet; Real-time; Parallel and distributed processing; Scheduling;

    Abstract : In modern and future parallel and distributed processing, a large part of computation overhead comes from communication. This can be minimized if the network protocol offers the user services that are aimed at specific types of communication used in these applications. READ MORE

  2. 2. On distributed real-time systems : the mStar environment, net-based learning and context-aware applications

    Author : Kåre Synnes; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Distribuerade datorsystem; Mobile and Pervasive Computing;

    Abstract : This doctoral thesis presents two frameworks for distributed real-time systems, the mStar environment for Computer Supported Collaborative Work (CSCW) and the Alipes architecture for context-aware applications, from the perspective of distributed teamwork and net-based learning. The mStar environment was designed to be symmetric and fully distributed, which allows all users equal access and thus full interactivity, as well as scalable through the use of IP multicast and a server-less design. 3. 3. Security-Driven Design of Real-Time Embedded Systems

    Author : Ke Jiang; Zebo Peng; Petru Eles; Axel Jantsch; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Security; Embedded System; Real-Time System; Design; Optimization;

    Abstract : Real-time embedded systems (RTESs) have been widely used in modern society. And it is also very common to find them in safety and security critical applications, such as transportation and medical equipment. READ MORE

  4. 4. Node-Level Fault Tolerance for Embedded Real-Time Systems

    Author : Joakim Aidemark; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; fault injection; error recovery; reliability calculations; time redundancy; real-time kernels; error detection; analytical coverage estimation; distributed real-time systems;

    Abstract : This thesis deals with cost-effective design and validation of fault tolerant distributed real-time systems. Such systems play an increasingly important role in embedded applications such as automotive and aerospace systems. READ MORE

  5. 5. Enhancing the Performance of Distributed Real-time Systems

    Author : Hoai Hoang; Magnus Jonsson; Bertil Svensson; Luís Almeida; Högskolan i Halmstad; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Switched Ethernet; Real-Time Communication; EDF scheduling; Reducation of delay and jitter; Computer science; Datalogi;

    Abstract : Advanced embedded systems can consist of many sensors, actuators and processors that are deployed on one or several boards, while having a demand of interacting with each other and sharing resources. Communication between different components usually has strict timing constraints. READ MORE
