  1. 1. A Systematic Approach to Integrated Building Performance Assessment and Visualisation

    Author : Samer Hassanie; Ivo Martinac; Holger Wallbaum; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; thermal comfort; energy consumption; building certifications; occupancy; modeling; presence; pattern recognition; Demand controlled ventilation; Indoor thermal environment; Occupancy; Time response; Energy use; Civil and Architectural Engineering; Byggvetenskap;

    Abstract : The aim of this project was to develop a holistic approach to building-performance assessment without limiting it to energy use (usually expressed in kWh/m2/year), but rather include more parameters that represent the following aspects: Economic, environmental, and quality of service provided to the occupant/client. If it can be shown that buildings can be operated not only in an energy-efficient way, but also in a way that takes into consideration the needs of the occupants, a case could be built that a higher quality of indoor environment does not necessarily mean a higher economic impact. 3. 3. Aeroacoustics Studies of Duct Branches with Application to Silencers

    Author : Mikael Karlsson; Mats Åbom; Luc Mongeau; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; silencer; muffler; confined flows; flow duct; aeroacoustics; vortex sound; acoustic multiports; linear stability; self-sustained oscillations; whistling; Herschel-Quincke tube; acoustic resonator; Fluid mechanics; Strömningsmekanik;

    Abstract : New methodologies and concepts for developing compact and energy efficient automotive exhaust systems have been studied. This originates in the growing concern for global warming, to which road transportation is a major contributor. READ MORE

  4. 4. Aerodynamics of an Aeroengine Intermediate Compressor Duct: Effects from an Integrated Bleed System

    Author : Elias Siggeirsson; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Intermediate Compressor Duct; S-shaped duct; DDES; Hybrid RANS LES; Dual-time-stepping; Bleed system; rotor off-take; SBES; CFD; Turbomachinery;

    Abstract : With the successful development of high-bypass-ratio turbofan engines, major aerodynamic components have been optimized and continuous efficiency improvements are getting harder to maintain. Therefore, to meet the requirements of lower emission of greenhouse gases, auxiliary modules such as intermediate ducts are receiving increasing interest. READ MORE

  5. 5. Acoustic Characterization of Turbochargers and Pipe Terminations

    Author : Heiki Tiikoja; Mats Åbom; Francisco Denia; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; acoustical two-port; turbocharger; transmission loss; sound generation; compressor; turbine; IC-engine; inlet system; exhaust system; flow duct; duct termination; reflection coefficient;

    Abstract : In search for quieter engines there is a need for a better understanding of the acoustic properties of engine intake and exhaust system components. Besides mufflers which have the purpose of reducing pressure pulses originating from the internal combustion (IC) engine, there are many components in a modern car exhaust and intake system, e.g. READ MORE
