  1. 1. Quality provision in duopoly

    Author : Cédric Argenton; Handelshögskolan i Stockholm; []
    Keywords : SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES;

    Abstract : This dissertation comprises three essays revisiting the classical topic of quality provision in a duopoly. Two essays consider a situation in which consumers cannot identify the origin of an individual product but observe or infer the average quality of the units brought to the market: Chapter 2 studies the case where the two producers bargain over a minimum quality standard before deciding about their own quality level, while Chapter 3 deals with the case where qualities are (exogenously) fixed and producers have to decide about the quantity they will offer for sale. 3. 3. Essays on Negotiation and Renegotiation in Bertrand Games

    Author : Ola Andersson; Nationalekonomiska institutionen; []
    Keywords : SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES;

  4. 4. Bargaining and Communication in Games

    Author : Ola Andersson; Nationalekonomiska institutionen; []
    Keywords : SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Repeated Bertrand Games; Communication; Cooperation; Renegotiation; Experiments; Bargaining; Discount factors; Non-cooperative Game Theory;

    Abstract : Chapter 2 investigates an infinitely repeated Bertrand duopoly where firms with different discount factors bargain over which collusive price and market share to implement. The bargaining is modelled as a strategic game and the main results of the paper is that it shows existence of a unique subgame perfect equilibrium and that the least patient firm's equilibrium market share is not monotone in its own discount factor. 5. 5. Economically Optimal Values and Decisions in Iranian Forest Management

    Author : Soleiman Mohammadi Limaei; Peter Lohmander; Sjur Didrik Flåm; Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences; []
    Keywords : SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Iranian Caspian forests; stumpage price; growth function; stochastic dynamic programming; dynamic game theory; Nash equilibrium;

    Abstract : Stumpage price processes are estimated via regression analysis (with alternative autoregressive models) with data from the Iranian Caspian forests. The parameter estimates indicate that the stumpage price may be regarded as a stationary stochastic process.    The optimal harvest decisions were calculated via stochastic dynamic programming.
