1. Nucleic Acids as Drug Targets - Influence of Platinum Complexes on Duplex Stability and Binding Kinetics
Abstract : Gaining a detailed understanding of how human cells are affected by metal-based drugs is crucial, since these drugs have shown great potential in cancer treatment. Cisplatin is used to treat many different types of cancer, e.g. testicular, ovarian, melanoma, bladder, non-small cell lung cancer, small cell lung cancer, myelomas and lymphomas. READ MORE

2. Stainless steels fabricated by laser melting : Scaled-down structural hierarchies and microstructural heterogeneities
Abstract : Additive manufacturing is revolutionizing the way of production and use of materials. The clear tendency for shifting from mass production to individual production of net-shape components has encouraged using selective laser melting (SLM) or electron beam melting (EBM). READ MORE

3. Influence of multiple welding cycles on microstructure and corrosion resistance of a super duplex stainless steel
Abstract : Super duplex stainless steel (SDSS) has found a wide use in demanding applications such as offshore, chemical and petrochemical industries thanks to its excellent combination of mechanical properties and corrosion resistance. Welding of SDSS, however, is associated with the risk of precipitation of secondary phases and formation of excessive amounts of ferrite in the weld metal and heat affected zone. READ MORE

4. Cationic Interactions with Nucleic Acids With Focus on Anticancer Active Platinum(II) Complexes
Abstract : It is well documented that the antitumour activity of the Pt(II)-complex cisplatin, and similar anticancer active complexes, is a result of metalation of DNA, and thereby inhibition of cell proliferation. Since nucleic acids are polyanions at physiological pH, the rate of adduct formation with positively charged complex, as the hydrolyzed Pt(II) complexes studied in this work, is influenced by the ionic environment surrounding the polymer. 5. Electron beam powder bed fusion processing of stainless steels
Abstract : Additive manufacturing (AM) is still a relatively new technology. In contrast to traditional machining where material is removed from a blank, AM is used to fuse a feedstock material into complex shapes, layer by layer, starting from an empty workspace. READ MORE
