1. Development of a Methodology for Dynamic Testing of Rock Support : Field Tests and Numerical Analysis
Abstract : The increasing mining depth in the Luossavaara-Kiirunavaara Aktiebolag (LKAB) mine located in the northern part of Sweden leads to higher stress magnitudes, resulting in increased seismic activity and more seismically-induced damage. The effectiveness of various ground support systems under dynamic loading conditions has therefore become of prime interest to LKAB for successful and safe mining at deep levels. READ MORE

2. Structural Behaviour of Concrete Railway Sleepers
Abstract : The railway concrete sleeper is an important part of the railway track structure. The sleeper member requires substantial engineering skills during the design and manufacturing process in order to fulfil the requirements set by modern train traffic. READ MORE

3. Efficient mineral liberation – Multidimensional investigation of mechanical stress and ore texture
Abstract : Within mineral comminution, the product properties (such as particle size distribution and mineral liberation characteristics) along with process efficiency are affected by material related and process environment factors. Understanding and optimizing these factors leads to designing and developing an energy-efficient process with a specified product. READ MORE

4. Model-based Analysis and Design of Atomic Layer Deposition Processes
Abstract : Atomic layer deposition (ALD) is a thin-film manufacturing process in which the growth surface is exposed to non-overlapping alternating injections of gas-phase chemical precursor species separated by intermediate purge periods to prevent gas-phase reactions. ALD is characterized by sequential self-terminating heterogeneous reactions between highly reactive gas-phase precursor species and surface-bound species which, when allowed sufficient conditions to reach saturation, results in highly conformal films, on both planar and topographically complex structures. 5. Control of Structure of Filled Polymer Blends
Abstract : This thesis deals with the control and analysis of the structure of filled immiscible polypropylene (PP) blends. The intention has also been to implement the knowledge gained in respect of commercially interesting systems as filled PP/(ethylene propylene copolymer (EP)) blends. READ MORE
