  1. 1. Non-target Effects of Genetically Modified Trees

    Author : Patrik Blomberg; Anders Wennström; Jan Stenlid; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Genetically modified; GM trees; secondary metabolism; phytochemistry; Populus; transgenic; non-target effects; natural enemies; plant-pathogen herbivore interaction; environmental effects; parasitic fungi; herbivorous insect; Terrestrial ecology; Terrestisk ekologi;

    Abstract : To date, few studies have focused on the effects of genetically modified trees (GM trees) on the environment. One concern with GM trees is that they may have unanticipated effects on non-target organisms, i.e. effects on organisms that are not direct targets of the genetically modified trait. READ MORE

  2. 2. Side effects of being tired : burnout among Swedish sport coaches

    Author : Erik Lundkvist; Peter Hassmén; Henrik Gustafsson; Robert Eklund; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : Coach burnout; exhaustion; interpretative phenomenological analysis; convergent validity; discriminant validity; quantile regression; work-home home-work interference; workaholism; Psychology; psykologi;

    Abstract : Burnout is a psychological concept that have got much attention since it was first defined in the middle of the 1970s. Although the definition of burnout differ there is consensus about exhaustion as the most important part of the concept. Burnout have also been in focus in sport psychology research. READ MORE

  3. 3. Multi-echelon Inventory Control with Integrated Shipment Decisions

    Author : Olof Stenius; Produktionsekonomi; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Inventory; Multi-echelon; Stochastic; Shipment consolidation; Delivery decisions;

    Abstract : Rising fuel prices and increasing environmental awareness emphasizes the importance of the transportation aspect in logistics. This calls for new improved inventory control methods that consider the effects of shipment strategies in a more realistic manner. READ MORE

  4. 4. Benthic fluxes of biogenic elements in the Baltic Sea : Influence of oxygen and macrofauna

    Author : Nils Ekeroth; Sven Blomqvist; Per OJ Hall; Bjørn Sundby; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Sediment biogeochemistry; Bioturbation; Benthic nutrient fluxes; Bottom water oxygenation; Box corer; Sediment sampling; Marine Ecology; marin ekologi;

    Abstract : This thesis investigates how benthic fluxes of phosphorus (P), nitrogen (N), and silicon (Si) change upon oxygenation of anoxic soft bottoms in the brackish, eutrophicated Baltic Sea. Direct measurements in situ by benthic landers demonstrated that fluxes of dissolved inorganic P (DIP) from anoxic bottom sediments in the Eastern Gotland Basin are higher than previously thought (Paper I). 5. 5. Development of a Test Environment for Air Intake Aerodynamics of Road Vehicles

    Author : Lasse Malmkjaer Christoffersen; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; radiator model.; wind tunnel; erodynamics; reynolds effects;

    Abstract : In the past years work on aerodynamics of road vehicles, the focus has mainly been on shaping the exterior. Recently, however, the focus has shifted towards an optimization of details. One such detail is the air intake for the cooling system. READ MORE
