  1. 1. Long-term performance of poly(vinyl chloride) cables : mechanical and electrical performances and the effect of plasticizer migration

    Author : Maria Ekelund; Ulf W. Gedde; Minna Hakkarainen; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Poly vinyl chloride cables; ageing; mechanical properties; plasticizer migration; Polymer chemistry; Polymerkemi;

    Abstract : Cables insulated with plasticized poly(vinyl chloride) were aged at temperatures between 80 and 180 °C in air and their conditions were assessed by indenter modulus measurements, tensile testing, infrared (IR) spectroscopy, differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) and liquid chromatography (HPLC). Electrical testing of oven-aged cable samples was performed in order to relate the electrical functionality during a high-energy line break accident to the mechanical properties and to establish a lifetime criterion. 2. 2. Chemical Doping of Conjugated Polymers for Thermoelectric Applications

    Author : Mariavittoria Craighero; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; mechanical properties; conjugated polymers; solid-state order; organic thermoelectrics; chemical doping;

    Abstract : The ongoing development of interconnected and wearable small devices, which together make up the so-called Internet of Things, is driving a rising need for autonomous and on-site energy supplies. Heat, an abundant and often wasted energy source, can be harnessed through thermoelectric generators that can directly convert heat into electricity. READ MORE

  3. 3. Development of a polymer based neural probe - How to record intracortical neural activity while minimizing the tissue response

    Author : Fredrik Ejserholm; Avdelningen för Biomedicinsk teknik; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Neural Probes; Electrode Modification; Polymer; Neurophysiology; OSTE ;

    Abstract : Intracortical neural probes have in the last couple of years been developed from stiff single probes to stiff multi-electrode neural probes to flexible multi-electrode neural probes. One reason for the change in design is that more than one recording/stimulation electrode, as in the case with a single wire, is needed for more advanced studies. READ MORE

  4. 4. Organic Bioelectronics for Neurotransmitter Release at the Speed of Life

    Author : Theresia Arbring Sjöström; Magnus Berggren; Daniel Simon; Klas Tybrandt; Marco Rolandi; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY;

    Abstract : The signaling dynamics in neuronal networks includes processes ranging from lifelong neuromodulation to direct synaptic neurotransmission. In chemical synapses, the time delay it takes to pass a signal from one neuron to the next lasts for less than a millisecond. READ MORE

  5. 5. Colour Calibration of Trichromatic Capturing Devices

    Author : Mattias Andersson; Olle Inganäs; Nir Tessler; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Polymer; fullerene; field-effect transistor; solar cell; electrical transport; mobility; Physics; Fysik;

    Abstract : In a time where there is an increasing demand for easily accessible and up-to-date information, digital printing has become a link between traditional printed media and electronic media. Over the last years, applications such as variable data printing, personalised printing and print on demand have changed the way in which printed matter is produced and handled. READ MORE
