  1. 1. Selenium Compounds and Antioxidant Capacity in Bovine Milk. Studies on Glutathione Peroxidase, Bioavailability and Electrochemical Techniques

    Author : Jun Chen; Kemiska institutionen; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; General biomedical sciences; Biomedicinska vetenskaper allmänt ; Kemiteknik och kemisk teknologi; Chemical technology and engineering; Livsmedelsteknik; Food and drink technology; amperometry; voltammetry; antioxidant capacity; ileostomy; bioavailability; glutathione peroxidase; bovine milk; selenium;

    Abstract : The efficacy and function of antioxidants have been intensively studied in foods and other biological systems in recent decades. This thesis concerns different aspects of the antioxidant properties of bovine milk, with emphasis on measurement of the total antioxidant capacity (TAC), the activity of the selenium-containing glutathione peroxidase (GSHPx), and the bioavailability of selenium from bovine milk in humans. 2. 2. Development of electrochemical sensor and biosensor platforms : detection of therapeutic drugs and heavy metal ions

    Author : Sereilakhena Phal; Solomon Tesfalidet; Britta Lindholm-Sethson; William Siljebo; Pankaj Vadgama; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Sensors; electrode surface modification; electrochemical immitance spectroscopy; square wave anodic stripping voltammetry; singular value decomposition; therapeutic drugs; heavy metals;

    Abstract : Electrochemical sensors and biosensors combine the sensitivity of electroanalytical methods with the selectivity of a sensor or biosensor surface. The chemical or biochemical component (receptor) in the sensor recognizes an analyte and produces an electrical signal which is proportional to the analyte concentration. READ MORE

  3. 3. Ionic Transport in Metal Oxides Studied in situ by Impedance Spectroscopy and Cyclic Voltammetry

    Author : Johan Öijerholm; Jinshan Pan; Jürgen Fleig; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; ionic transport; alumina; zirconia; in situ impedance spectroscopy; molecular dynamics; high temperature cyclic voltammetry; spark plasma sintering; initial oxidation; FeCrAl alloy; grain size; space charge model.; Electrochemistry; Elektrokemi;

    Abstract : Ionic transport in metal oxides is crucial for the functioning of a broad range of different components, such as heat resistant alloys designed for high temperature applications and oxide electrolytes in solid oxide fuel cells. This thesis presents results from in situ electrochemical studies of properties related to ionic transport in metal oxides that are important for their applications as protective oxides and ionic conductors. 4. 4. Using Light to Probe Surface Electrochemical Processes

    Author : Weronica Linpe; NanoLund: Centre for Nanoscience; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Electrochemistry; X-ray methods; In situ; synchrotron radiation; Ex situ; Single crystal; polycrystalline; aluminium oxide; Au; Pd; Pt; Sn; Super duplex stainless steel.; Fysicumarkivet A:2021:Linpé;

    Abstract : This thesis shows how various light-based in situ techniques can be used to follow different surface electrochemical processes such as electrochemical deposition into Nanoporous Anodic Aluminium Oxide (NP-AAO) templates and the surface structure of electrodes. Techniques based on both x-rays and visible light were used to follow surface structures and compositions, in situ. READ MORE

  5. 5. Integrated biomechanical, electronic and topographic characterization of titanium dental implants

    Author : Johanna Löberg; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Surface roughness parameters; 3D-SEM; AFM; Interfacial shear strength; Impedance spectroscopy; Cyclic voltammetry; SBF; MG-63; TiO2-nanoparticles;

    Abstract : Titanium dental implants are medical devices used to restore the function entailed with the loss of one or several teeth. To obtain successful function over long periods, the dental implants must be sufficiently anchored in the bone to withstand the forces induced by for example chewing. READ MORE
