  1. 1. Electrochromism in Nickel-based Oxides : Coloration Mechanisms and Optimization of Sputter-deposited Thin Films

    Author : Esteban Damián Avendaño Soto; Gunnar Niklasson; Andris Azens; Claes-Göran Granqvist; Ulf Helmersson; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Physics; Nickel based Oxide; Electrochromism; Thin Films; Sputtering; Coloration mechanism; Fysik; Physics; Fysik;

    Abstract : Electrochromic properties of sputter-deposited nickel-based oxide films have been studied with a two-fold goal. From a practical point of view, the optical switching performance has been improved by optimizing the deposition conditions and film stoichiometry with respect to oxygen and hydrogen, and further by adding Mg, Al, Si, Zr, Nb or Ta to the films. Abstract : During the last 30 years a new research and technology field of organic electronic materials has grown thanks to a groundbreaking discovery made during the late 70’s. This new field is today a worldwide research effort focusing on exploring this new class of materials that also enable many new areas of electronics applications. READ MORE

  3. 3. On the Surface of Conducting Polymers : Electrochemical Switching of Color and Wettability in Conjugated Polymer Devices

    Author : Joakim Isaksson; Magnus Berggren; Kajsa Uvdal; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Conjugated polymer; electrochemistry; surface energy; electrochromism; contact angle; Electrochemistry; Elektrokemi;

    Abstract : Since the discovery in 1977 that conjugated polymers can be doped to achieve almost metallic electronic conduction, the research field of conducting polymers has escalated, with applications such as light emitting diodes, solar cells, thin film transistors, electrochemical transistors, logic circuits and sensors. The materials can be chemically modified during their synthesis in order to tailor the desired mechanical, electronic and optical properties of the final product. READ MORE

  4. 4. Dynamic and quasi-stationary electrochromic response of amorphous tungsten oxide thin films : In situ combined electrochemical and optical measurements during lithium intercalation

    Author : Edgar Alonso Rojas González; Gunnar Niklasson; Aline Rougier; Uppsala universitet; []

    Abstract : Electrochromic (EC) materials can adjust their optical properties, reversibly, by means of an external electrical stimulus. They have relevant technological applications; for example, energy-efficient smart windows, which can adapt dynamically—according to the given environmental conditions—to control the heat and visible light fluxes between the interior and exterior of a building.
