  1. 1. Inclusion Behaviour under a Swirl Flow in a Continuous Casting Process

    Author : Yang Ying; Pär Jönsson; Dong-Yuan Sheng; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; inclusion behaviour; swirl flow; rotating magnetic field; electromagnetic swirl flow generator; full type; half type; submerged entry no zzle; mold;

    Abstract : A swirl flow generated in a submerged entry nozzle (SEN) can effectively improve a flow pattern and heat transfer in a continuous casting process by using the methods of “swirl blade type” and “electromagnetic type”. In order to obtain a further in-depth understanding with respect to the effect of a swirl flow on a continuous casting process, the inclusion behaviour in a SEN and a mold was studied in the present work. 2. 2. Inclusion Motion under a Swirl Flow in the Continuous Casting Process and Wire Feeding in the Induction Furnace

    Author : Ying Yang; Pär Jönsson; Seppo Louhenkilpi; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; inclusion motion; swirl flow; rotating magnetic field; electromagnetic swirl flow generator; full type; half type; submerged entry nozzle; mold; wire feeding; melting behavior; FeSiRE particle powder motion; induction furnace;

    Abstract : The thesis includes the studies of two phenomena related to continuous casting. One subject is the inclusion motion in the submerged entry nozzle (SEN) and mold when using a swirl flow. The swirl flow is generated in a SEN by using an electromagnetic swirl flow generator (EMSFG). READ MORE

  3. 3. A Study of the Swirling Flow Pattern when Using TurboSwirl in the Casting Process

    Author : Haitong Bai; Mikael Ersson; Pär Jönsson; Yogeshwar Sahai; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; flow pattern; swirling flow; TurboSwirl; CFD; turbulence models; water model; flödesmönster; roterandeflöde; TurboSwirl; CFD; turbulensmodeller; vattenmodell; Metallurgical process science; Metallurgisk processvetenskap;

    Abstract : The use of a swirling flow can provide a more uniform velocity distribution and a calmer filling condition according to previous studies of both ingot and continuous casting processes of steel. However, the existing swirling flow generation methods developed in last decades all have some limitations. READ MORE
