  1. 1. Modeling of Electron Cooling : Theory, Data and Applications

    Author : Karin Rathsman; Tord Johansson; Pia Thörngren; Dieter Prasuhn; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Electron cooling; Beam dynamics; Vlasov technique; Nonlinear damping; Monte Carlo simulations; Nuclear physics; Kärnfysik; Nuclear Physics; Kärnfysik;

    Abstract : The Vlasov technique is used to model the electron cooling force. Limitations of the applicability of the method is obtained by considering the perturbations of the electron plasma. READ MORE

  2. 2. Structure determination of beam sensitive crystals by rotation electron diffraction : the impact of sample cooling

    Author : Fei Peng; Junliang Sun; Xiaodong Zou; Dag Nores; Ute Kolb; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; electron crystallography; rotation electron diffraction; structure determination; cooling; Inorganic Chemistry; oorganisk kemi;

    Abstract : Electron crystallography is complementary to X-ray crystallography. Single crystal X-ray diffraction requires the size of a crystal to be larger than about 5 × 5 × 5 μm3 while a TEM allows a million times smaller crystals being studied. This advantage of electron crystallography has been used to solve new structures of small crystals. READ MORE

  3. 3. Ultrasensitive Cold-Electron Bolometer

    Author : Ian Jasper Agulo; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; responsivity; electron cooling; cold-electron bolometer CEB ; SIN tunnel junctions; superconducting cold-electron bolometer SCEB ; noise equivalent power;

    Abstract : The Cold-Electron Bolometer (CEB) is an ultrasensitive device designed for the detection of cosmic microwave background radiation. The key to its sensitivity is the electron cooling of the absorber by the superconductor-insulator-normal metal (SIN) tunnel junction. READ MORE

  4. 4. 3D Electron Diffraction : Application and Development towards High-quality Structure Determination

    Author : Yunchen Wang; Wei Wan; Xiaodong Zou; Junliang Sun; Mauro Gemmi; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; three-dimensional electron diffraction; structure determination; rotation electron diffraction; Inorganic Chemistry; oorganisk kemi;

    Abstract : Electron crystallography has been proven to be effective for structure determination of nano- and micron-sized crystals. In the past few years, 3D electron diffraction (3DED) techniques were used for the structure solution of various types of complex structures such as zeolites, metal-organic frameworks (MOF) and pharmaceutical compounds. 5. 5. Cold-Electron Bolometer with Superconductor-Insulator-Normal Metal Tunnel Junctions

    Author : Ian Jasper Agulo; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; temperature sensitivity; cryogenfree; power sensitivity; noise equivalent power; cold-electron bolometer; SIN tunnel junctions; electron cooling;

    Abstract : The Cold-Electron Bolometer (CEB) is an ultrasensitive device designed for the detection of radiation in the terahertz region of the electromagnetic spectrum. The key to its sensitivity is the electron cooling of the absorber by the superconductor-insulator-normal metal (SIN) tunnel junction. READ MORE
