    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; positron emission tomography; methionine; NK1; substance p; flumazenil; deprenyl; pk11195; phosphoimager; autoradiography; TBI; traumatic brain injury; iron chloride; ferrous chloride; Neurology; Neurologi; Radiology; Radiologi;

    Abstract : Epilepsy is a common neurological disease affecting 6 million people in Europe. Early prevention and accurate diagnosis and treatment are of importance to obtain seizure freedom. In this thesis new applications of carbon-11-labelled tracers in PET and autoradiographic studies were explored in focal epilepsy. READ MORE

  2. 2. High Order Local Radial Basis Function Methods for Atmospheric Flow Simulations

    Author : Erik Lehto; Elisabeth Larsson; Natasha Flyer; Tobin Driscoll; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Radial basis function; meshless method; high order finite difference; atmospheric flow; hyper-viscosity; stable algorithm; Scientific Computing; Beräkningsvetenskap;

    Abstract : Since the introduction of modern computers, numerical methods for atmospheric simulations have routinely been applied for weather prediction, and in the last fifty years, there has been a steady improvement in the accuracy of forecasts. Accurate numerical models of the atmosphere are also becoming more important as researchers rely on global climate simulations to assess and understand the impact of global warming. READ MORE

  4. 4. Effects of Pre- and Postnatal Nutrition Interventions on Child Growth and Body Composition : The MINIMat Trial in Rural Bangladesh

    Author : Ashraful Islam Khan; Lars-Åke Persson; Elisabeth Forsum; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : body composition; child growth; exclusive breast feeding; food supplementation; multiple micronutrients; pregnancy; programming;

    Abstract : Nutritional insults and conditions in fetal life and infancy may influence later growth and body composition as well as the development of chronic diseases in adult life. We studied the effects of maternal food and micronutrient supplementation and exclusive breast-feeding counseling on offspring growth 0-54 months and body composition at 54 months of age. READ MORE

    Abstract : Women and men’s experiences and needs in relation to induced abortion, and their views on the prevention of unintended pregnancies were explored through questionnaire studies at 10 and13 Swedish women’s clinics (Papers I–IV). Among 798 women in age range 14 – 49, 35% had experience of at least one previous abortion, and in the age range 20 – 49, 41%. READ MORE
