  1. 1. Coupled Simulations of Cooling and Engine Systems for Unsteady Analysis of the Benefits of Thermal Engine Encapsulation

    Author : Blago Minovski; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Oil system; Cooling system; Drive cycle; CFD simulations; Fuel consumption; Engine encapsulation; 1D simulations;

    Abstract : A well-designed engine encapsulation can extend engine cool-down time significantly - on the order of 500 - 700%. This is expected to have a sensitive influence on the fuel consumption due to the increased probability for high oil temperatures at the following engine start, reduced length of the initial warm-up period and consequently, reduced friction losses. 2. 2. Starch Pickering Emulsions : Process and Encapsulation Stability

    Author : Ali Marefati; Avdelningen för livsmedel och läkemedel; []
    Keywords : Starch granules; Pickering emulsions; Encapsulation; Freeze-thaw stability; Freeze-drying; In vitro digestion; In vitro intestinal lipolysis;

    Abstract : The emulsion stabilization functionality of surfactants and biopolymers can be replaced by solid particles adsorbed at the interface, where they create a category of emulsions known as Pickering emulsions. Recently, health and environmental concerns have led to new market demand for natural, biodegradable and renewable sources of ingredients. READ MORE

  3. 3. Engine Encapsulation for Increased Fuel Efficiency of Road Vehicles

    Author : Blago Minovski; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; coupled simulations; powertain cooling systems; warm-up; 1D simulations; thermal engine encapsulation; cool-down; fuel consumption; numerical analysis; 3D CFD simulations;

    Abstract : Thermal engine encapsulation is an increasingly popular design choice, which insulates the engine from the external environment and retains heat in the engine after it is turned off. This decelerates motor cool-down and increases the probability for high initial temperature at a subsequent engine start, resulting in shorter warm-up and reduced friction between engine parts. 4. 4. Formulation and characterization of W/O nano-dispersions for bioactive delivery applications

    Author : Maria D. Chatzidaki; Aris Xenakis; Bert van Bavel; Werner Kunz; Örebro universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; nano-dispersions; encapsulation; food; DLS; EPR; Cryo-TEM; SAXS; pH-stat; digestion; antioxidants; gastric lipase; pancreatic lipase; Kemi; Chemistry;

    Abstract : The main objective of this study was the formulation of food-grade water-in-oil (W/O) nano-dispersions based mainly on medium or long-chain triglycerides. Two types of dispersions were formulated and structurally compared, namely emulsions and microemulsions. READ MORE

  5. 5. Aroma characterisation and retention after heat treatment and drying of fruits using extraction and GC-MS analysis

    Author : Rui Ráice; Livsmedelsteknik; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Fruits; Vangueria infausta; Mangifera indica; volatile; aroma; blanching; drying; encapsulation; modelling; GC-MS.;

    Abstract : This study concerns the identification and characterisation of volatile components of fruits, and evaluation of the effect of heat treatment and drying on retention or loss of volatiles of fruits. The investigation included developing a procedure to extract volatile components from the fruit matrix, a purification step, separation, identification and quantification. READ MORE
