1. Androgen receptors and endocrine disrupting substances
Abstract : Throughout the animal kingdom, organisms are dependent on substances such as steroid hormones to help them maintain internal balances. Examples of important tasks that are under regulation of steroid hormones are somatic and gonadal development, sexual performance and behavior (both social and sexual) as well as sex differentiation. 2. Endocrine modulators and sexual differentiation in Japanese quail : With emphasis on the neuroendocrine system
Abstract : Chemical disruption of the endocrine system in various animal species is currently attracting considerable interest, but avian models are not yet widely used in studying endocrine disturbances. This thesis shows the occurrence of alterations in sexual behavior and reproductive organs in adult Japanese quail (Coturnix japonica) following embryonic exposure to estrogen-like chemicals. 3. Current Medical Treatment of Endocrine Pancreatic Tumors and Future Aspects
Abstract : We treated 16 patients with somatostatin analogs combined with α-interferon and achieved a biochemical and/or radiological response in 56% (median duration 22 months). We consider this treatment a good alternative for patients who fail during chemotherapy or who do not want to/cannot receive cytotoxic drugs. READ MORE

4. Somatostatin Receptor Expression and Biological Functions in Endocrine Pancreatic Cells
Abstract : Type 1 diabetes is resulting from the selective destruction of insulin-producing beta-cells within the pancreatic islets. Somatostatin acts as an inhibitor of hormone secretion through specific receptors (sst1-5). READ MORE

5. Life Style, Molecular Pathology, and Breast Cancer Risk
Abstract : The breast cancer diagnosis covers a wide range of tumours with different geno- and phenotypic characteristics. The diversity among studies on life-style factors and their impact on breast cancer risk might be clarified by recognizing breast cancer as a heterogeneous disease. READ MORE
