    Abstract : Roughly one third of all the food produced worldwide goes to waste. The global goals for sustainable development set by the United Nations in 2015 call for a 50% reduction of food waste per capita by 2030. We thus face several major food waste challenges that need academic and practical attention. READ MORE

    Abstract : The licentiate dissertation “Safety and Sustainability in the Community Planning Process – Actors’ Interests, Roles and Influence” has in three case studies over detailed development planning processes examined how issues related to safety and sustainability are handled in Swedish municipal planning. The research project has focused on three municipal actors; the Planning Office, the Environmental Agency and the Fire and Rescue Services. READ MORE

  3. 3. Effects of deep excavations in soft clay on the immediate sourroundings-Analysis of the possibility to predict deformations and reactions against the retaining system

    Author : Anders Kullingsjö; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []

    Abstract : When excavating in an urban environment, the evaluation of the magnitude and distribution of ground movements is an important part of the design process, since excessive movements can damage adjacent buildings and utilities. In order to minimize movement of the surrounding soil, a retaining wall support system is used for deep excavations to provide lateral support. READ MORE

  4. 4. Environmental Impacts of Shared Mobility: Potential, Factors, and Assessments

    Author : Ana Maria Arbelaez Velez; Internationella miljöinstitutet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; shared mobility; Environmental impact; sustainable transportation; input and output analysis; Life Cycle Assessment LCA; demand-side solutions;

    Abstract : Environmental impacts from passenger transportation continue to increase globally due to a rise in kilometers traveled and a shift to emission-intensive transportation modes (from public transportation and active modes such as walking and cycling to motorcycle and car ridership). The electrification of the passenger fleet, coupled with low-carbon energy sources, is expected to decrease some of the environmental impacts associated with passenger transportation, including local air pollution, greenhouse gas emissions and fuel depletion.
