1. Bioelectronic Nanosensor Devices for Environmental and Biomedical Analysis
Abstract : A new type of Bioelectronic Nanosensor Device with potential applications in medicine, biotechnology and environmental analysis was designed. The nanosensor is based on RISFET (Regional Ion Sensitive Field Effect Transistor) technology. READ MORE

2. The adsorption of arsenic oxyacids to iron oxyhydroxide columns : including studies of weakly hydrated ions and molecules in aqueous solution
Abstract : The fundamental side of this project includes determination of ionic radii and plausible hydration numbers for the weakly hydrated alkali metal ions in solution, as well as an investigation of the intramolecular bond lengths of arsenic oxyacid species and orthotelluric acid. Experimental methods such as EXAFS, XANES and LAXS have been used for these purposes, as well as thorough screening for relevant structures in crystal structure databases. READ MORE

3. Carbonation for fixation of metals in municipal solid waste incineration (MSWI) fly ash
Abstract : The waste management is in need of a reliable and economical treatment method for metals in fly ashes from municipal solid waste incineration (MSWI). However, no state-of-the-art technique has gained wide acceptance yet. This Doctoral Thesis aimed at assessing the possibilities and limitations of carbonation as a stabilization method. READ MORE

4. Ageing behaviour of steel slags in landfill liners
Abstract : Steel slags are by-products of the steelmaking process. To avoid unnecessary disposal, e.g. into landfill, their chemical and physical properties should be exploited to support alternative uses. READ MORE

5. Particulate airborne impurities : express analysis and health effects
Abstract : The cumulative effects of air pollutants are of principal concern in research on environmental protection in Sweden. Post-industrial society has imposed many limits on emitted air pollutants, yet the number of reports on the negative effects from them is increasing, largely due to human activity in the form of industrial emissions and increased traffic flows.
