1. Exploring cross-resource impacts of urban sustainability measures : an urban climate-land-energy-water nexus analysis
Abstract : In an increasingly urban world, cities' global resource uses grow. Two fundamental resources for making cities liveable are water and energy. These resources are also closely interlinked – systems that convert and deliver energy to cities require water, and urban water systems use energy. READ MORE

2. Enhancing Environmental Performance by Green Procurement : A study of environmental procurement preferences in the construction industry
Abstract : In recent years, the general awareness of the environmental impacts that industrial production gives rise to has radically increased throughout the world. Finding ways to minimise these impacts has become a major concern of the authorities in many countries. READ MORE

3. Advancing Nexus Approaches: insights from practice in support of their operationalisation
Abstract : The last decade has seen the emergence of a new research theme - the study of the resources Nexus. The “Nexus” refers to considering the functioning of several systems simultaneously, as opposed to one, as the object of research. This perspective reasons that coherent decision-making needs to consider systems' interconnectedness. READ MORE

4. Chemical substitution with a life cycle perspective: The case of per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances in durable water repellents
Abstract : The aim of the research presented in this thesis was to support the process of substitution of side-chain fluorinated polymers in durable water repellents (DWRs), that give rise to emissions of hazardous per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFASs). The focus was on: i) the provision of improved decision support regarding the environmental and human health performance of alternatives, and ii) public readiness for substitution and what messages can motivate consumers to voluntary substitution. 5. GETTING MORE OUT OF THE AFTERLIFE
Abstract : Material intensity related to product consumption has become part of societal discourse and reducing it has become a priority of some industrial actors. Focusing on product end-of-life (EoL) is one approach that many companies and research entities have taken to identify and enact material intensity reductions. READ MORE
