  1. 1. Engineering strategies for ABD-derived affinity proteins for therapeutic and diagnostic applications

    Author : Mikael Åstrand; Sophia Hober; John Löfblom; Larry Gold; KTH; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; ABD; ADAPT; Protein G; ERBB2; ERBB3; Directed evolution; phage display; staphylococcal display; bispecific; Bioteknologi; Biotechnology;

    Abstract : Small stable protein domains are attractive scaffolds for engineering affinity proteins due to their high tolerance to mutagenesis without loosing structural integrity. The albuminbinding domain is a 5 kDa three-helix bundle derived from the bacterial receptor Protein G with low-nanomolar affinity to albumin. READ MORE

  2. 2. Studies of LRIG1 and the ERBB receptor family in breast and colorectal cancer

    Author : Ingrid Ljuslinder; Beatrice Malmer; Håkan Hedman; Roger Henriksson; Irina Golovleva; Mef Nilbert; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : breast cancer; colorectal cancer; LRIG1; EGFR; ERBB2; invasive margin; onkologi; Oncology;

    Abstract : The LRIG1 gene (leucine-rich repeats and immunoglobulin like domains-1) at chromosome 3p14 is a proposed tumour suppressor gene whose gene product negatively regulates various receptor tyrosine kinases. This function has been the basis for classifying LRIG1 as a potential tumour suppressor gene (TSG). READ MORE

  3. 3. Experimental studies in brain tumours : with special regard to multidrug resistance and the ErbB-family

    Author : Ulrika Andersson; Roger Henriksson; Beatrice Malmer; Erik Blomquist; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Oncology; glioma; meningioma; endothelium; MDR; Pgp; MRP1; LRP; MGMT; EGFR; ErbB2; ErbB3; ErbB4; Onkologi; Oncology; Onkologi; onkologi; Oncology;

    Abstract : Primary brain tumours, and especially the most common form malignant gliomas, usually display a pronounced resistance to other treatment modalities when surgery fails to cure. Growth factors, such as EGF and its receptor, frequently amplified and overexpressed in malignant gliomas, and factors associated with multidrug resistance have been suggested to at least partially explain the poor outcome. 4. 4. Genotype-phenotype studies in brain tumors

    Author : Soma Ghasimi; Ulrika Andersson; Beatrice Melin; Roger Henriksson; Clemens Dirven; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Glioma; Meningioma; SNP; IHC; FISH; LRIG2; EGF; EGFR; ERBB2; ER; CDKN2A B; IDH1; onkologi; Oncology;

    Abstract : Meningioma and glioma are the most common primary brain tumors, but their etiologies are largely unknown. Although meningioma is usually benign, their intracranial location can lead to lethal consequences, and despite progress in surgery, radiotherapy, and chemotherapy the prognosis for patients with glioma remains poor. 5. 5. Molecular Cytogenetics in Sporadic Breast Cancer

    Author : Karin Rennstam; Bröstcancer-genetik; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; onkologi; oncology; Cytology; Cytologi; cancer; gene expression; gene amplification; tumor development; cDNA microarray; fluorescence in situ hybridization FISH ; breast cancer; comparative genomic hybridization CGH ; cancerology; ERBB2;

    Abstract : In recent time breast cancer has become the most common form of female cancer in the western world. It has been estimated that the lifetime risk of women falling ill from the disease is 10%. The number of patients diagnosed each year has been increasing steadily since the 1970s. READ MORE
