  1. 1. Exhaled markers of oxidative stress in the airways

    Author : Mona Lärstad; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : exhaled air; exhaled breath condensate; malondialdehyde; 3-nitrotyrosine; ethane; pentane; isoprene; oxidative stress; airways; inflammation;

    Abstract : Breath contains a number of different molecules, some of which may have potential use as markers for oxidative stress in the airways during chronic airway inflammation. The major objectives were to develop and validate methods for quantifying five potential exhaled markers of oxidative stress: malondialdehyde (MDA) and free 3-nitrotyrosine (3-NT) in exhaled breath condensate (EBC) and ethane, pentane and isoprene in exhaled air, and to test the applicability of the methods. 2. 2. On the Use of Rotational CARS on Polyatomics and in Time Domain

    Author : Ali Hosseinnia; Förbränningsfysik; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Rotational CARS; Laser Diagnostics; Ethylene; Ethane; Internal Rotation; Coherent Lifetime; ultrafast spectroscopy; Fysicumarkivet A:2020:Hosseinnia;

    Abstract : This thesis work concerns the further developments of dual-broadband rotational coherent anti-Stokes Raman spectroscopy (RCARS) through experimental and theoretical investigations. Rotational CARS is an established technique for gas-phase thermometry and concentration measurement with major applications in combustion diagnostics. READ MORE

  3. 3. Experimental investigation of hydrocarbon formation and transformation under Earth´s upper mantle conditions

    Author : Anton Kolesnikov; Vladimir Kutcherov; Bertil Sundqvist; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; theory of deep abiotic petroleum origin; natural gas; hydrocarbons; methane; ethane; graphite; hydrogen; high pressure; high temperature; CONAC; BARS; diamond anvil cell; Raman; X-ray; gas chromatography; Engineering mechanics; Teknisk mekanik;

    Abstract : The theory of the abyssal abiotic petroleum origin considers oil and natural gas to begenerated in the Earth’s upper mantle. Hydrocarbons migrate further through the deep faults into the Earth’s crust, where they can form oil and gas deposits in any kind of rock in any kind of structural position. READ MORE

  4. 4. The role of deep hydrocarbons in the global hydrocarbon budget

    Author : Daniil Kudryavtsev; Vladimir Kutcherov; Kostya Trachenko; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Hydrocarbons; non-methane volatile hydrocarbons; carbon dioxide; methane; ethane; propane; butane; global warming; diamond-anvil cells; Raman spectroscopy; high pressure; high temperature; phase transition; Energy Technology; Energiteknik;

    Abstract : Nowadays, the issue of global warming and related environmental problems got widespread awareness among scientific society, politics, the industry as well as it has affected our everyday life. The reason for such a negative impact on the atmosphere is attributed mainly to human activities. READ MORE

  5. 5. PBDEs in the Environment : Time trends, bioaccumulation and the identification of their successor, decabromodiphenyl ethane

    Author : Amelie Kierkegaard; Lillemor Asplund; Cynthia de Wit; Michael McLachlan; Jacob de Boer; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : PBDE; BDE209; dietary absorption; metabolism; debromination; bioaccumulation; decabromodiphenyl ethane; decabromodiphenyl ether; Applied Environmental Science; tillämpad miljövetenskap;

    Abstract : Polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDEs) are important chemical flame retardants, but also environmental pollutants. Their bromine substitution lends them a different bioaccumulation behaviour than the better studied organochlorines.The contamination of a Swedish lake with lower brominated BDEs was assessed by a retrospective study of pike.
