1. Self Assembly at the Liquid Air Interface
Abstract : The aim of this work is to study the interfacial properties of amphiphilic compounds at the liquid–air interface in an attempt to develop a comprehensive understanding of their orientation as well as the influence of their interaction with the solvent on the interfacial layer properties. Using Vibrational Sum Frequency Spectroscopy (VSFS) as the main tool, the molecular structure of the amphiphilic layer and the amphiphile–solvent relation can be illuminated in great detail – it is arguably the most sensitive surface spectroscopy currently available. 2. Studies on preparation and properties of nanophase metal oxides
Abstract : This thesis is about science on an atomic scale - aninterdisciplinary approach to nanoparticles. Studies of thepreparation of nanoparticles using both physical and chemicalmethods are presented. Understanding and controlling factorsfor particle growth during synthesis are the keys to successfulfabrication of materials with tailored properties. READ MORE

3. Polyolefin Flame Retardant Cable Materials - Effect of Additives and Copolymer Structure
Abstract : Fire safety of cables is becoming increasingly important as the use of electrical equipment steadily increases. Due to their excellent dielectric properties, polyolefin materials are widely used as insulating materials for cables. However, polyolefins are inherently flammable and need to be protected to meet the requirements on flame retardancy. READ MORE

4. In situ X-Ray Spectroscopy of Ethylene Epoxidation over Ag and studies of Li-ion batteries and Cu sulfidation
Abstract : This thesis is based on experiments applying synchrotron based X-ray Absorption Spectroscopy(XAS) and Resonant Inelastic X-ray Scattering (RIXS) in the soft X-ray region to energy related systems. The main work of this thesis has been to develop a reaction cell that allowed for in situ XAS and RIXS investigations of the partial epoxidation of ethylene over a Ag catalyst at 1 atm and up to 250C. 5. Adsorption of polyhydroxyl based surfactants
Abstract : Adsorption on solid surfaces from solution is a fundamental property of a surfactant. It might even be the most important aspect of surfactant behavior, since it influences many applications, such as cleaning, detergency, dispersion, separation, flotation, and lubrication. READ MORE
