  1. 1. Mechanistic-Empirical Modelling of Flexible Pavement Performance : Verifications Using APT Measurements

    Author : Abubeker W. Ahmed; Sigurdur Erlingsson; Hervè Di Benedetto; Statens väg- och transportforskningsinstitut; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Performance; Deformation; Model not math ; Rutting wheel ; Viscoelasticity; Elasticity; Axle load; Flexible pavement; Laboratory not an organization ; Test; Thesis; Heavy vehicle simulator; Wheel tracking test; 32 Road: Pavement design; 32 Road: Pavement design; Transportvetenskap; Civil and Architectural Engineering;

    Abstract : Mechanistic-Empirical  (M-E)  pavement  design  procedures  are  composed  of  a  reliable  response model to estimate the state of stress in the pavement and distress models in order to predict the different types of pavement distresses due to the prevailing traffic and environmental conditions. One of the main objectives of this study was to develop a response model based on multilayer elastic  theory   (MLET)  with  improved  computational  performance  by   optimizing  the   time consuming parts of the MLET processes. 2. 2. Dynamic Performance and Design Aspects of Compliant Fluid Film Bearings

    Author : Matthew Cha; Sergei Glavatskih; Kyung-Woong Kim; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Compliant bearing; dynamic performance; design aspects; Machine Design; Maskinkonstruktion;

    Abstract : Due to government regulations together with health and safety reasons, there are increasing demands on reducing hazardous polluting chemicals from fossil fuel power plants. Therefore, more efforts are imposed on using renewable resources such as water, wind, solar and tide to produce clean/green electricity. READ MORE

  3. 3. Mechanical performance of NCF composites

    Author : David Mattsson; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Polymera konstruktionsmaterial; Polymeric Composite Materials;

    Abstract : Composite materials are today in widespread use in the aerospace and marine industries due to their excellent strength and stiffness to weight ratio. In most marine and aerospace applications traditional composites (pre- impregnated tapes) are still the main choice for design of load bearing structures. READ MORE

  4. 4. In search of future excellence : bibliometric indicators, gender differences, and predicting research performance in the early career

    Author : Jonas Lindahl; Rickard Danell; Cristian Colliander; Birger Larsen; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; bibliometric indicator; gender; early career; doctoral education; excellence; decision support tool; prediction; research performance; doctoral student; library and information science; biblioteks- och informationsvetenskap;

    Abstract : The governance of higher education institutions and science have endured significant changes during the last decades, emphasizing competitiveness, performance, and excellence. Embedded in this development is an increased use of bibliometric indicators as decision support tools in contexts of e.g., employment, appointment, and funding. READ MORE

  5. 5. Performance determinants and classification in paracanoe

    Author : Johanna Rosén; Anna Bjerkefors; Anton Arndt; Vicky Tolfrey; Carl Payton; Gymnastik- och idrottshögskolan; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; canoe; outrigger; para sport; disability; impairment; Paralympics; kinematics; kinetics; Medicin Teknik; Medicine Technology;

    Abstract : Valid classification systems are vital for Paralympic sports in order to minimise the impact of impairment on sports performance. To achieve valid classification, each Paralympic sport must develop evidence-based classification systems by examining the impact of impairment on key performance determinants. READ MORE
