1. Antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory agents in experimental gingivitis
Abstract : The main objectives of the present series of experiment was to evaluate i) the microbial changes that occurred in plaque during de novo plaque formation, ii) the influence of the number of bacteria in saliva on de novo plaque formation, iii) the effect of a chlorhexidine regimen on the recolonization of bacterial species in plaque and saliva, iv) the effect of systemic administration of ibuprofen on gingivitis development and de novo plaque formation and v) the effect of a mouthrinse containing Listerine® on gingivitis development and de novo plaque formation.Subjects with no signs of periodontal disease were recruited. 2. Conventional, microfilled and hybrid composite resins : laboratory and clinical evaluations
Abstract : Three types of composite resins, classified as conventional, microfilled and hybrid resins were compared with respect to surface characteristics, effect on the gingival margin, marginal adaptation and clinical durability in anterior cavities. The surface characteristics were studied in in vitro systems by means of scanning electron microscopy. 3. Studies on Pellicle and Early Dental Plaque in Relation to Periodontal Conditions
Abstract : Background and Hypothesis: Bacterial receptors in dental pellicles may influence colonisation and subsequent plaque formation. Studies on such receptors in the dental pellicles and bacterial adherence have mostly been performed in vitro and focused on proteins of salivary origin. READ MORE

4. On the role of plasma proteins in bacterial adhesion to dental surfaces
Abstract : Bacterial receptors in dental pellicles could influence colonisation and subsequent plaque formation. Studies of such receptors in dental pellicles and bacterial adherence have often focused on proteins of salivary origin. We have only a limited knowledge of the receptor functions of plasma proteins reaching the pellicle via the crevicular fluid. READ MORE

5. On prevention and treatment of peri-implant inflammation
Abstract : This thesis focuses on prevention and treatment of biological complications around dental implants.BackgroundAn increasing number of individuals have restorations that are anchored to the jaws by dental implants. Modern-day implants are a Swedish invention that became available to patients in the 1970s. READ MORE
