2. MicroRNA expression profiles in prostate cancer bone metastases : functional effects of microRNA-23c, -375, and -4328
Abstract : Non-coding microRNAs (miRNAs) function as post-transcriptional regulators of gene expression by interacting with messenger RNA. Dysregulation of miRNAs has many possible consequences, including tumor-suppressive or -promoting ones, and restoring or preventing the effects of miRNA alteration has therapeutic potential. 3. Deconvolution of Spatial Gene Expression in Cancer
Abstract : Cancer is the second leading cause of death in the world, claiming nearly 10 million lives in 2020 alone. One of the main issues in anti-cancer treatment is the heterogeneity of the tumor microenvironment (TME). The TME consists of different cells that are critical for cancer development. READ MORE

4. Gene Expression Studies of Hematologic Malignacies
Abstract : The general aim of this thesis was to characterize hematologic malignancies using gene expression profiling in order to obtain an improved classification and to study deregulated transcriptional networks in leukemia. In the first study (Article I), the gene expression profiles of hematologic cell lines were analyzed to investigate whether such cell lines maintain expression profiles that are characteristic of their primary genetic changes. 5. Regulation of human macrophage gene expression by oxidized low density lipoprotein. Studies on tumor necrosis factor-a and global gene expression profiles
Abstract : Atherosclerosis is a multifactorial and progressive disease that is characterized by a focal thickening of the arteries caused by accumulation of lipoproteins, extracellular matrix, and the migration and proliferation of various cell types. Among the cells found in atherosclerotic lesions are macrophages, which accumulate lipids and are transformed into foam cells. READ MORE
