  1. 1. Molecular Probing of Local Protein-Protein Interactions : Studies of the tissue factor, factor VIIa complex formation

    Author : Maria Österlund; Mikael Oliveberg; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Abstract : Protein-protein interactions are intrinsic to virtually all cellular processes. However, very little is known about the dynamics of the formation of protein complexes or the order of events that direct the association between two protein molecules (the association pathway), especially when different interacting surfaces are involved. 2. 2. Tissue Factor in Complex : Studies of interactions between blood coagulation proteins

    Author : Karin Carlsson; Magdalena Svensson; Susanne Wisén; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP;

    Abstract : Many biological processes rely on specific protein-protein interactions, for example immune responses, cell signaling, transcription, and blood coagulation. Blood coagulation is initiated when a vessel wall is damaged, exposing tissue factor (TF) to the circulating factor VII/factor VIIa (FVII/FVIIa) which results in the formation of the TF:FVIIa complex and thereby the initiation of blood coagulation. 3. 3. Monocytes, Tissue Factor and Heparin-coated Surfaces : Clinical and Experimental Studies

    Author : Matilda Johnell; Agneta Siegbahn; Rolf Larsson; Jesper Swedenborg; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Medicine; monocytes; tissue factor; heparin-coated surfaces; coagulation; inflammation; thrombin; cytokines; cardiopulmonary bypass; biocompatibility; migration; chemotaxis; Medicin; Dermatology and venerology; clinical genetics; internal medicine; Dermatologi och venerologi; klinisk genetik; invärtesmedicin;

    Abstract : Cardiopulmonary bypass (CPB) is associated with inflammatory response and activation of coagulation. Heparin coating of the CPB circuit is shown to improve the biocompatibility of the surface. The biological effects of a new heparin surface, the Corline Heparin Surface (CHS), prepared according to a new principle, have been studied. READ MORE

  4. 4. Studies on Tissue Factor with Focus on Cell Signaling and Cancer

    Author : Oskar Eriksson; Agneta Siegbahn; Lina Badimon; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Tissue Factor; blood coagulation; cell signaling; protease; mass spectrometry; immunohistochemistry; colorectal cancer; apoptosis; Eph receptor; Klinisk kemi; Clinical Chemistry; Molekylär cellbiologi; Molecular Cellbiology;

    Abstract : This thesis have explored the functions of the protein Tissue Factor (TF), which together with its ligand coagulation factor VII/VIIa (FVII/FVIIa) forms a proteolytic complex that functions in initiation of blood coagulation and activation of cell signaling.In paper I, the mechanisms behind the observation that TF/FVIIa signaling protects cells from apoptosis were further investigated. 5. 5. EGF-like modules in blood coagulation proteins : Ca²+ binding, module interactions, structure and dynamics as studied by NMR spectroscopy

    Author : Andreas Muranyi; Biofysikalisk kemi; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; residual dipolar couplings; protein S; factor VII; protein structure; calcium; blood coagulation; NMR spectroscopy; EGF modules; Physical chemistry; Fysikalisk kemi;

    Abstract : Modules are independently folding protein domains defined on the gene level. The epidermal growth factor-like (EGF) modules are involved in protein-protein interactions and are found in numerous membrane proteins and extracellular proteins, including many proteins of the blood coagulation system.
