21. Displaced femoral neck fractures : studies on osteosynthesis and total hip arthroplasty
Abstract : The treatment of femoral neck fractures has for many years in Sweden been reduction and osteosynthesis with nails or screws. For displaced fractures the risk of complications such as avascular necrosis and non-union is up to 50 %, often leading to a secondary operation with an arthroplasty. READ MORE

22. Dislocation of hip arthroplasty in patients with femoral neck fractures
Abstract : Treatment of displaced fractures of the femoral neck with a hemiarthroplasty (HA) or a total hip arthroplasty (THA) today constitutes standard procedures with a good and predictable outcome with regard to the need for revision surgery, hip function and the health-related quality of life (HRQoL). However, dislocation of the prosthesis remains a substantial clinical problem in this patient group and the dislocation rate is considerably higher than what can be expected following a THA in patients with osteoarthritis. 23. Fracture healing, functional outcome and health related quality of life in younger patients with a femoral neck fracture
Abstract : Few prospective studies have investigated the patient-reported outcome measures (PROM) in patients less than 70 years that sustained a femoral neck fracture (FNF) treated with closed reduction and internal fixation (CRIF). The health-related quality of life (HRQoL) using the self-administered questionnaires EuroQol 5 Dimension (EQ-5D) and Short Form- 36 Health Survey (SF-36) and with a long term follow-up has not previously been examined in this group of patients. 24. Treatment of displaced femoral neck fractures in the elderly
Abstract : Femoral neck fracture (FNF) in elderly patients is a common cause of suffering and premature death in individuals with osteoporotic bones. This fracture type is more common in women after menopause, and the associated patients are often osteoporotic, which contributes to a higher incidence of fractures. READ MORE

25. Displaced femoral neck fractures in the elderly : treatment with arthroplasties
Abstract : Treatment of displaced femoral neck fractures in the elderly with arthroplasties has become standard practice during the last decade and results in good and predictable outcomes regarding hip function and health-related quality of life (HRQoL). There is, however, a lack of evidence concerning certain types of arthroplasties and different subgroups of patients. READ MORE
