1. Novel room temperature ferromagnetic semiconductors
Abstract : In today's information world, bits of data are processed bysemiconductor chips, and stored in the magnetic disk drives. But tomorrow's information technology may see magnetism (spin)and semiconductivity (charge) combined in one 'spintronic'device that exploits both charge and 'spin' to carry data (thebest of two worlds). 2. Magnetism of Semiconductors and Metallic Multilayers
Abstract : Magnetic properties of diluted magnetic semiconductors and magnetic metallic multilayers are investigated by SQUID magnetometry. By doping GaAs with magnetic Mn2+ ions under well defined growth conditions, one obtains a diluted magnetic semiconductor, (Ga,Mn)As, in which the randomly-distributed magnetic ions act as acceptor centers. 3. Computational Material Design : Diluted Magnetic Semiconductors for Spintronics
Abstract : The present thesis deals with the application of ab-initio electronic structure calculations based on density functional theory for material design. The correlation between magnetic properties and electronic structures has been investigated in detail for diluted magnetic semiconductors (DMS), which have promising application for spintronics devices. 4. Atomistic Spin Dynamics, Theory and Applications
Abstract : The topic of this Thesis is magnetization dynamics on atomic length scales. A computational scheme, Atomistic Spin Dynamics, based on density functional theory, the adiabatic approximation and the atomic moment approximation is presented. READ MORE

5. Magnetism of manganites, semiconductors and spin glasses
Abstract : Magnetic and electrical properties of selected compounds containing manganese (Mn) are investigated by SQUID magnetometry and transport measurements.(Ga,Mn)As is a magnetic semiconductor obtained from GaAs by substituting Ga3+ for Mn2+. Mn acts in the alloy as a magnetic impurity, as well as a hole dopant. READ MORE
