  1. 21. Risk Estimation and Prediction of Preeclampsia, IUGR, and Thrombosis in Pregnancy

    Author : Pelle Lindqvist; Malmö Institutionen för kliniska vetenskaper; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; gynaecology; andrology; Obstetrics; Thrombosis; Smoking; Risk estimation; Risk; Pregnancy; Preeclampsia; IUGR; Evolution; Fetal loss; Abortion; APC resistance; reproduction; Obstetrik; sexuality; sexualitet; reproduktion; andrologi; gynekologi;

    Abstract : The aim of this thesis was to improve background knowledge for making a reliable medical evaluation at the first visit of a woman in her 13th gestational week, to the antenatal clinic. We have focused on the prediction and the risk estimation of preeclampsia, intra-uterine growth restriction (IUGR), and thrombosis. READ MORE

  2. 22. Fetal Cardiac Function and Venous Circulation - Experiences with Velocity Vector Imaging

    Author : Charlotte Dahlbäck; Urogynekologi och reproduktionsfarmakologi; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; pregnancy; fetus; strain; speckle tracking; cardiac function; umbilical vein; venous; ductus venosus; Doppler;

    Abstract : Placental dysfunction resulting in intrauterine growth restriction (IUGR) is a common complication of pregnany and severe IUGR, with ensuing fetal hypoxia is an important cause of perinatal mortality and morbidity. Doppler studies of fetal and maternal vessels are routinely used for fetal surveillance and alterations in fetal venous blood flow has been demonstrated as a late sign of fetal compromise. READ MORE

  3. 23. Pregnancies with decreased fetal movements : risk factors and strategies for mitigation of poor neonatal outcomes

    Author : Irene Sterpu; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : Background and aims: The most feared complication of pregnancy is stillbirth. Globally there are 2.6 million stillbirths annually with more than 7000 deaths a day. Pregnancies with reduced fetal movements have a higher risk of stillbirth and growth restriction. READ MORE

  4. 24. Nutritional status before and during pregnancy in relation to the maternal insulin-like growth factor-system and health related variables in the offspring

    Author : Hanna Olausson; Agneta Holmäng; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICINE; MEDICIN;

    Abstract : Adequate fetal growth is of importance for health in adulthood. Maternal nutritional status has been suggested to be one major factor influencing fetal development. READ MORE

  5. 25. Genetic epidemiological studies of adverse pregnancy outcomes and the role of schizophrenia

    Author : Emma Nilsson; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : Adverse pregnancy outcomes; pre-eclampsia; gestational hypertension; fetal growth restriction; low birth weight; infant death; schizophrenia; genetic and environmental components; epidemiology; twins; families;

    Abstract : The purposes of this thesis were to investigate the importance of genetic and environmental factors in the development of adverse pregnancy outcomes and to investigate the role of schizophrenia as a risk factor for and a consequence of adverse pregnancy outcomes. In the first study we investigated the importance of genetic and environmental factors for pre-eclampsia and gestational hypertension and whether the diseases share genetic etiology. READ MORE
