1. Sustainability and Flexural Behaviour of Textile Reinforced Concrete
Abstract : Concrete reinforced with conventional steel is one of the most commonly used building materials, yet it has historically shown disadvantages in terms of durability and vulnerability to corrosion attack. Various remedial methods have been applied to overcome the shortcomings of this building material, such as increasing the concrete cover, which, however, leads to an increased self-weight of the structure. 2. Development and characterisation of bast and basalt fibre hybrid polymer composites for automotive applications
Abstract : Natural fibres such as kenaf, hemp, and flax, also known as bast fibres, offer several benefits such as low density, low cost, carbon dioxide neutrality, sustainability and renewability. In Europe, their composites are used intensively by almost all car manufacturers, mostly in interior applications. READ MORE

3. Estimation of state and identification of complex modulus based on measurements om a bar traversed by waves
Abstract : Estimation of state and identification of complex modulus based on measurements on non-uniform rods and beams have been studied theoretically and experimentally. Two principal cases were studied. In the first case, the material properties are fully known and the state at a section is to be estimated. READ MORE

4. Electronic Control of Flexural Nanowire Vibrations
Abstract : “Nanoelectromechanical systems” (NEMS) are nanometer-sized mechanical structures coupled to electronic devices of comparable size. The coupling between mechanical and electronic degrees of freedom, combined with their mesoscopic size, provide these systemswith some unique properties that make them interesting from both the fundamental and technological point of view. 5. Flexural Strengthening of Reinforced Concrete Beams Using Externally Bonded CFRP--An Innovative Method for the Application of Prestressed CFRP Laminates
Abstract : A large number of existing bridges in European countries are structurally deficient and functionally obsolete due to the deterioration of aging bridges and the lack of structural and geometric capacity to accommodate the increasing traffic volume and load levels. To meet the demand for holistic and effective strengthening techniques the SUREBRIDGE solution is proposed for the refurbishment of concrete bridges, which includes the technique of using prestressed carbon fiber reinforced polymer (CFRP) laminate as externally bonded reinforcement for flexural strengthening.
