    Abstract : Flooding is of great concern world-wide, causing damage to infrastructure, property and loss of life. Low-income countries, in particular, can be negatively affected by flood events due to their inherent vulnerabilities. Moreover, data to perform studies for flood risk management in low-income regions are often scarce or lacking sufficient quality. READ MORE

  2. 2. Design flood estimation under uncertainty

    Author : Kenechukwu Okoli; Giuliano Di Baldassarre; András Bárdossy; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Dimensionerande flöden; osäkerheter; avrinningsmodellering; frekvens analys.; Dimensionerande flöden; osäkerheter; avrinningsmodellering; frekvens analys.; Design flood; uncertainty; rainfall-runoff; frequency analysis.; Hydrology; Hydrologi;

    Abstract : Att bestämma dimensionerande flöden, d.v.s. sannolikheten för att vat-tenföringen i ett vattendrag överskrider ett givet värde, är ett allmänt hydrologiskt problem som exempelvis används för att utvärdera över-svämningsrisker i vattendrag samt för att dimensionera hydrauliska kon-struktioner. 3. 3. Climate Change Effects on Rainfall and Management of Urban Flooding

    Author : Arun Rana; Avdelningen för Teknisk vattenresurslära; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Climate Change; Extreme Events; Intensive Rainfall; Urban Drainage; Intensity-Duration-Frequency; Statistical analysis; Flood Management;

    Abstract : Flooding in urban basins is intensifying due to increasing urbanization and climate change and variability. This thesis presents how the effects of climate change and high-intensive rainfall on the urban drainage system and management of flooding in urban areas of were studied in Mumbai, India and Southern Sweden, including Skåne and Gothenburg. 4. 4. Uncertainty Modelling in Hydrological Applications - Error Propagation Properties of Random Linear Systems

    Author : Jan Agerholm Høybye; Avdelningen för Teknisk vattenresurslära; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; geographical and geological engineering; Hydrogeology; floods; water quality; prediction uncertainty; differential equations; Stochastic hydrology; random functions; Hydrogeologi; teknisk geologi; teknisk geografi; Geophysics; physical oceanography; meteorology; Geofysik; fysisk oceanografi; meteorologi;

    Abstract : In hydrological models for water resources management and planning, the model output or design quantities are functions of the input data and a number of parameters that are essentially stochastic processes or random variables. The task of uncertainty analysis is to estimate the uncertainty characteristics of the model output in terms of the uncertainties in the input, model parameters and initial conditions. READ MORE

  5. 5. Impacts of climate change on surface hydrology in the source region of the Yellow River

    Author : Feifei Yuan; Avdelningen för Teknisk vattenresurslära; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Source region of the Yellow River; climate change; summer precipitation; ENSO; teleconnection pattern; sea surface temperature; Xinanjiang model; Rainfall-Runoff process;

    Abstract : The source region of the Yellow River contributes about 35% of the total water yield in the Yellow River basin playing an important role for meeting the downstream water resources requirements. The declining water availability caused by climate change in the source region of the Yellow River is expected to have severe repercussions for the 110 million basin inhabitants in terms of water resources affecting agricultural productivity, municipal, and industrial water supply.
