    Abstract : Abstract. The purpose of the presented investigations was to study the influence and effects of altered states of consciousness (ASC) induced through the flotation tank restricted environmental stimulation technique (flotation-REST) in a laboratory setting. READ MORE

  2. 2. Flotation-REST (Restricted Environmental Stimulation Technique) in the age of anxiety : Exploring the role and treatment applications of sensory isolation in the modern world

    Author : Kristoffer Jonsson; Anette Kjellgren; Torsten Passie; Karlstads universitet; []
    Keywords : SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Flotation-REST; Sensory isolation; Sensory deprivation; Anxiety; Generalized anxiety disorder; Complementary and alternative medicine; Flyt-REST; sinnes-isolation; sensorisk deprivation; generaliserat ångest syndrom; komplementär och alternativ medicin; Psykologi; Psychology;

    Abstract : Anxiety and the use of Complementary and Alternative Medicine (CAM), such as flotation-REST, have increased markedly during the last decades. Anxiety is reportedly a prevalent incentive for the use of CAMs, despite the present low state of knowledge about their safety and efficacy. READ MORE

  3. 3. Altering consciousness in the laboratory setting

    Author : Anette Kjellgren; Karlstads universitet; []
    Keywords : SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Key words: Altered states of consciousness; ASC; Floating; Flotation; REST; Psychedelic; Pain; Creativity.; Psykologi; Psychology;

    Abstract : Abstract. The purpose of the presented investigations was to study the phenomenology and effects of altered states of consciousness (ASC) induced through previous illicit use of psychedelic drugs as well as experimentally induced ASC through the flotation tank restricted environmental stimulation technique (flotation-REST) in a laboratory setting. Abstract : This present thesis examines whether or not relaxation as floating may be exploited to reinforce primary process (inner-directed) orientation, and thereby enhance performance, creative problem-solving ability and originality. Two Articles are presented both using randomized factorial design. Article I include two subexperiments. READ MORE

  5. 5. Sulphide mineral flotation : a new insight into oxidation mechanisms

    Author : Alireza Javadi; Jan D. Miller; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Mineralteknik; Mineral Processing;

    Abstract : Formation of hydrogen peroxide (H2O2), an oxidizing agent stronger than oxygen, by sulphide minerals during grinding was investigated. It was found that pyrite (FeS2), chalcopyrite (CuFeS2), sphalerite ((Zn,Fe)S), and galena (PbS), which are the most abundant sulphide minerals on Earth, generated H2O2 in pulp liquid during wet grinding in the presence or devoid of dissolved oxygen in water and also when the freshly ground solids are placed in water immediately after dry grinding.
