1. Combustion, Fluid Dynamics and Heat Transfer in Oxy-fuel and Air-Fired CFB boilers
Abstract : The studies described in this thesis develop and encode modeling tools for the design and scale-up of oxy-fuel circulating fluidized bed (CFB) boilers across a wide range of operational conditions. The modeling comprises fluid dynamics, combustion, and heat transfer and uses expressions that are proposed in this work or derived from the literature, together with experimental data obtained under both oxy-fuel-fired and air-fired conditions. 2. Analysis of heat transfer and fluid flow in the resin transfer moulding process
Abstract : This thesis contains an analysis of fluid flow and heat transfer problems in the resin transfer moulding (RTM) process for manufacturing of polymer based fibre composites and it consists of five separate papers. The permeability of unidirectional fabrics, that are often used in advanced composites, is considered in Paper A and a theory for the permeability dependence on the micro geometry is developed. 3. Data-Driven Techniques for Fluid Mechanics and Heat Transfer
Abstract : One of the main challenges in fluid mechanics and heat transfer is the need for detailed studies andfast computational speed to monitor and optimise a system. These fluid/heat flows comprise time-dependent velocity, multi-scale, pressure, and energy fluctuations. READ MORE

4. Hydrodynamics and Heat Transfer in Vertical Falling Films with Smooth and Modified Heat-Transfer Surfaces – An Experimental and Numerical Investigation
Abstract : High energy utilization efficiency is important to achieve a sustainable society. By having highly efficient heat exchangers, more energy can be recovered and reused at a lower cost. READ MORE

5. Heat-transfer simulations applied to electrical machines
Abstract : Electrification and energy efficiency are two important aspects in present scenarios describing a sustainable future. Electric motors constitute a large fractionof industry’s electricity demand today, and it is expected to remain high inthe future. READ MORE
