  1. 1. Characterization of Male Breast Cancer : From Molecule to Clinical Outcome

    Author : Cecilia Nilsson; Marie-Louise Fjällskog; Leif Bergkvist; Thomas Hatschek; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; male breast cancer; immunohistochemistry; prognostic; cyclins; gene expression; genomic profiling; Oncology; Onkologi; Oncology; Onkologi;

    Abstract : The aim of this thesis was to investigate different aspects of male breast cancer (MBC), and to compare these with findings in female breast cancer (FBC). In paper I, a population–based study was performed to investigate possible differences in treatment and outcome between MBC and FBC patients. READ MORE

  2. 2. Prostate cancer : epidemiological studies of risk factors

    Author : Camilla Thellenberg Karlsson; Beatrice Malmer; Henrik Grönberg; Anders Bergh; Peter Iversen; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Prostate cancer; epidemiology; SNP; BRCA2; male breast cancer; inflammation; BPH; P53; Oncology; Onkologi;

    Abstract : In spite of the fact that prostate cancer is the most common male cancer in both Sweden and many other countries in the developed world, little is known of risk factors and predisposing conditions. The only well recognized risk factors are age, race and familial aggregation. READ MORE

  3. 3. The Prognostic Impact of Proliferation Markers in Breast Cancer with Emphasis on Cyclin B1 and PPH3

    Author : Anthoula Koliadi; Marie-Louise Fjällskog; Thomas Hatschek; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; proliferation; cyclin B1; Phosphorylated Histone 3; cyclin A; breast cancer; node negative; prognostic factor; luminal; Oncology; Onkologi;

    Abstract : The aim of this thesis was to investigate the prognostic role of the proliferation markers cyclin B1 and Phosphorylated Histone 3 (PPH3) in breast cancer (BC).In paper I we used an experimental study design, we compared women dying early from their BC with women free from relapse more than eight years after initial diagnosis. 4. 4. Cytogenetic studies of primary and metastatic breast cancer

    Author : Adewale Adeyinka; Avdelningen för klinisk genetik; []

    Abstract : A series of primary and metastatic breast carcinomas obtained from female and male patients were cytogenetically analysed. Trisomy 12 was identified as a recurrent and sometimes early event in breast carcinogenesis. READ MORE

  5. 5. Identification of novel BRCA2-binding proteins that are essential for meiotic homologous recombination

    Author : Jingjing Zhang; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; meiosis; DSB; cancer; BRCA2; MEILB2; BRME1; HR; RAD51; DMC1; DDR;

    Abstract : Meiotic recombination is a molecular process in which the induction and repair of programmed DNA double-strand breaks (DSBs) creates genetic exchange between homologous chromosomes and thus increases genetic diversity and ensures chromosome segregation. Breast cancer susceptibility gene 2 (BRCA2) is a potent cancer suppressor and is required for DSB repair by homologous recombination (HR) in mitosis. READ MORE
