  2. 2. Thermal Modelling of the Caledonian Basin, Scandinavia and a Northern North Sea Profile

    Author : Jörgen Samuelsson; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; petroleum; vitrinite reflectance; thermal maturation; flexural rigidity; heat flow; suppression; thermal conductivity; North West Shelf; Alum Shale;

    Abstract : The reason for the registered high paleotemperatures of the Scandinavian Alum Shale was investigated by heat flow modelling constrained by vitrinite-like reflectance. The behaviour of the lithosphere under a load was modelled and the paleotemperatures were explained by burial of the Alum Shale in a foreland basin, developing during the Caledonian orogeny. 3. 3. Diagenesis and Reservoir-Quality Evolution of Deep-Water Turbidites: Links to Basin Setting, Depositional Facies, and Sequence Stratigraphy

    Author : Howri Mansurbeg; Sadoon Morad; Ihsan Al-Aasm; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : Bedrock geology; Diagenesis; reservoir quality; active margin; passive margin; depositional facies; sequence stratigraphy; Berggrundsgeologi;

    Abstract : A study of the distribution of diagenetic alterations and their impact on reservoir-quality evolution in four deep-water turbidite successions (Cretaceous to Eocene) from basins in active (foreland) and passive margins revealed the impact of tectonic setting, depositional facies, and changes in the relative sea level. Diagenetic modifications encountered in the turbiditic sandstones from the passive margin basins include dissolution and kaolinitization (kaolin has δ18OV-SMOW = +13. READ MORE

  4. 4. Tectonic Evolution of Taimyr in the Late Paleozoic to Mesozoic from Provenance and Thermochronological Evidence

    Author : Xiaojing Zhang; Victoria Pease; Arild Andresen; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Taimyr; sandstones; provenance; heavy mineral analysis; detrital zircon; apatite fission track; tectonic setting; uplift; Geology; geologi;

    Abstract : The Taimyr Peninsula is a key element in the circum-Arctic region and represents thenorthern margin of the Siberian Craton. The Taimyr Peninsula is a late Paleozoic fold andthrust belt and preserves late Paleozoic through Mesozoic siliciclastic sedimentarysuccessions and providing an ideal location to investigate the Paleozoic to Mesozoictectonic evolution associated with the Uralian orogeny, the Siberian Trap magmatism andopening of Amerasia Basin within a circum-Arctic framework. 5. 5. Provenance of late Paleozoic and Mesozoic clastic sediments of Taimyr and their significance for understanding Arctic tectonics

    Author : Xiaojing Zhang; Victoria Pease; Arne Willner; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Geology; geologi;

    Abstract : The Taimyr Peninsula is a key element in the circum-Arctic region and represents the northern margin of the Siberian Craton. The Taimyr Peninsula preserves late Paleozoic through Mesozoic clasitic sedimentary successions in its Mesozoic fold belt, providing an ideal location to investigate the Mesozoic tectonic evolution associated with the opening of Amerasia Basin within a circum-Arctic framework.
