  1. 1. Phosphorylation in State Transition : Less cause more effect

    Author : Jakob Damkjaer; Jansson Stefan; Eva-Mari Aro; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Photosynthesis; Photoacclimation; State Transtion; LHCII Phosphorylation; Lhcb3; Lhcb6; Plant physiology; Växtfysiologi; molekylärbiologi; Molecular Biology;

    Abstract : Study of the Arabidopsis thaliana knockout mutant lacking Lhcb3 (koLhcb3) have revealed a close similarity to the wild type plants. Growth rate, NPQ, qP, Φ(PSII), circular dichroism spectra, pigment composition and content of LCHII trimers have been found to be unaffected by this mutation. READ MORE

  2. 2. Functional Significance of Multiple Poly(A) Polymerases (PAPs)

    Author : Helena Nordvarg; Claire Moore; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Genetics; poly A polymerase; PAP; phosphorylation; isoforms; alternative splicing; kinetic parameters; hyperphosphorylation; regulation; Genetik; Poly A polymeras; PAP; fosforylering; isoformer; alternativ splitsning; kinetiska parametrar; reglering; Clinical genetics; Klinisk genetik; molekylär cellbiologi; Molecular Cellbiology;

    Abstract : 3’ end cleavage and polyadenylation are important steps in the maturation of eukaryotic mRNAs. Poly(A) polymerase (PAP), the enzyme catalysing the addition of adenosine residues, exists in multiple isoforms. In this study the functional significance of multiple poly(A) polymerases have been investigated. READ MORE

  3. 3. Studies on signaling pathways induced by FLT3, an important oncogene in AML

    Author : Elena Razumovskaya; Institutionen för translationell medicin; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; FLT3; AML; RTK; oncogene; ERK5; hematopoiesis;

    Abstract : FLT3, a receptor tyrosine kinase, is expressed in hematopoietic progenitor cells. FLT3-ITD (internal tandem duplication) and D835 mutations are found in approximately 30% and 7% of Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML) patients respectively, and correlate with a poor prognosis, thus making the mutated receptor a potential therapeutic target. 4. 4. Regulation of Aquaporins by Proteins, Metal ions and Phosphate groups

    Author : Stefan Kreida; Biokemi och Strukturbiologi; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; aquaporin-2; aquaporin-0; calmodulin; LIP5; phosphorylation; calcium; zinc; protein-protein interactions; aquaporin regulation; trafficking; gating;

    Abstract : Aquaporins (AQPs) are membrane-bound intrinsic water channels that allow the passive diffusion of water and small solutes across cellular membranes. There are 13 highly conserved isoforms of these channels in human, which differ in specificity, regulation and localisation in cells and tissues. READ MORE

  5. 5. The interconnected KIT receptor and Microphthalmia-associated transcription factor axis in melanoma

    Author : Bengt Phung; Institutionen för translationell medicin; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES;

    Abstract : Melanoma is an aggressive disease that arises from deregulated signaling events in melanocytes. The KIT receptor tyrosine kinase and the Microphthalmia-associated transcription factor (MITF) are two essential components that are required for the normal physiology of melanocyte development and function.
