1. Chloride Transport in Concrete - Measurement and Prediction
Abstract : This doctoral work has been carried out to try to classify the basic theories involved in chloride transport in concrete, and at the same time to develop a measurement method and a prediction model for concrete structures submerged in sea water. Chloride binding accompanies almost all the transport processes and has a significant influence on chloride transport. READ MORE

2. Transthyretin from a structural perspective
Abstract : Conformational changes in human proteins can induce several types of diseases. The nature of the conformational changes is largely unknown, but some lead to amyloid fibril formation. Amyloid fibrils accumulate in the extra-cellular space of tissues resulting in disruption of organ function. READ MORE

3. The hematopoietic transcription factor RUNX1 : a structural view
Abstract : The malfunction of the transcriptional regulator RUNX1 is the major cause of several variants of acute human leukemias and its normal function is to regulate the development of the blood system in concert with other transcriptional co-regulators. RUNX1 belongs to a conserved family of heterodimeric transcription factors that share a conserved DNA binding domain, the Runt domain (RD), named after the first member of this group – Runt - found in Drosophila melanogaster. 4. Adsorption and Self-Assembly of Cationic Surfactants at Silica Surfaces
Abstract : The equilibrium self-assembly of cationic surfactants in bulk solution and at negatively-charged silica substrates is investigated experimentally and theoretically. The surfactants used are quaternary ammonium salts, both monovalent (DoTAB, TTAB, CTAB) and divalent (DoPPDAC). READ MORE

5. The use of fluorescence techniques for the study of some membrane-bound photosynthetic properties and some effects of copper on the thylakoid membrane
Abstract : Lyophilized pea chloroplasts were extracted in a stepwise manner in an organic solvent (petroleum ether) with increasing polarity which was obtained by addition of small amount of ETOH (0-1 %). Absorption and low temperature fluorescence emission spectra were measured on both the extracted thylakoids and on isolated chlorophylI-protein complexes. READ MORE
