  2. 2. A Study in RNA Bioinformatics : Identification, Prediction and Analysis

    Author : Eva Freyhult; David Ardell; Robert Giegerich; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; RNA; bioinformatics; secondary structure; structure prediction; dynamic programming; energy landscape; homology search; sequence logo; tRNA; Bioinformatics; Bioinformatik;

    Abstract : Research in the last few decades has revealed the great capacity of the RNA molecule. RNA, which previously was assumed to play a main role only as an intermediate in the translation of genes to proteins, is today known to play many important roles in the cell in addition to that as a messenger RNA and transfer RNA, including the ability to catalyze reactions and gene regulations at various levels. 3. 3. Aspects of Yang-Mills Theory : Solitons, Dualities and Spin Chains

    Author : Lisa Freyhult; Antti Niemi; Poul Damgaard; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Theoretical physics; Theoretical Physics; Field theory; String theory; Yang-Mills; Effective models; Supersymmetry; Solitons; Fermion number; Duality; AdS CFT correspondence; Bethe ansatz; Teoretisk fysik; Physics; Fysik;

    Abstract : One of the still big problems in the Standard Model of particle physics is the problem of confinement. Quarks or other coloured particles have never been observed in isolation. Quarks are only observed in colour neutral bound states. The strong interactions are described using a Yang-Mills theory. READ MORE

  4. 4. Maximal Unitarity at Two Loops : A New Method for Computing Two-Loop Scattering Amplitudes

    Author : Kasper J. Larsen; Lisa Freyhult; David Kosower; Joseph Minahan; Paul Heslop; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Amplitudes; NNLO calculations; Quantum Chromodynamics; Unitarity; Fysik med inriktning mot elementarpartikelfysik; Physics with specialization in Elementary Particle Physics;

    Abstract : The study of scattering amplitudes beyond one loop is necessary for precision phenomenology for the Large Hadron Collider and may also provide deeper insights into the theoretical foundations of quantum field theory. In this thesis we develop a new method for computing two-loop amplitudes, based on unitarity rather than Feynman diagrams. READ MORE
