  1. 1. Fuel-efficient driving strategies

    Author : Sina Torabi; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; speed profile optimization; fuel efficiency; neural networks.; energy efficiency; genetic algorithms; performance analysis; road grade estimation; mass estimation; vehicle platooning;

    Abstract : This thesis is concerned with fuel-efficient driving strategies for vehicles driving on roads with varying topography, as well as estimation of road grade and vehicle mass for vehicles utilizing such strategies. A framework referred to as speed profile optimization (SPO), is introduced for reducing the fuel or energy consumption of single vehicles (equipped with either combustion or electric engines) and platoons of several vehicles. 2. 2. Engine Encapsulation for Increased Fuel Efficiency of Road Vehicles

    Author : Blago Minovski; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; coupled simulations; powertain cooling systems; warm-up; 1D simulations; thermal engine encapsulation; cool-down; fuel consumption; numerical analysis; 3D CFD simulations;

    Abstract : Thermal engine encapsulation is an increasingly popular design choice, which insulates the engine from the external environment and retains heat in the engine after it is turned off. This decelerates motor cool-down and increases the probability for high initial temperature at a subsequent engine start, resulting in shorter warm-up and reduced friction between engine parts. 3. 3. Conceptual Design of Semi-Closed Oxy-Fuel Combustion Combind-Cycle

    Author : Majed Sammak; Kraftverksteknik; []
    Keywords : Oxy-fuel; Gas turbines; Combined Cycles;

    Abstract : Accelerating actions to mitigate CO2 emissions was one of the important messages at the UN Climate Summit 2014. About 85 % of the world’s energy is provided through the burning of fossil fuels, which is the main source of CO2 emissions. READ MORE

  4. 4. New insights into lubricated tribological contacts

    Author : Elin Larsson; Staffan Jacobson; Åsa Kassman Rudolphi; Jannica Heinrichs; Philip Shipway; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Tribology; friction; wear; lubrication; fuel additive; boric acid; tribofilm; transport; fuel efficiency; surface analysis; grease; LiX grease; PP grease; fretting; electrical contacts; cross section; copper; silver; Teknisk fysik med inriktning mot tribomaterial; Engineering Science with specialization in Tribo Materials;

    Abstract : The emissions of carbon dioxide, CO2, must rapidly be reduced to avoid severe climate change. Tribology-related solutions can be an important part in reducing these emissions. The aim of this thesis is to improve the fundamental knowledge in two tribology-related fields, both concerning lubrication, to enable such solutions in the future. READ MORE

  5. 5. The open absorption system : energy savings in different applications

    Author : Lars Johansson; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Energy Engineering; Energiteknik;

    Abstract : The open absorption system is a technique that makes it possible to recover energy in different processes using moist air. In most applications the latent heat in moist air is difficult to recover because of the low temperature. Processes using outdoor air to carry away moisture therefore have high energy demands.
