1. Modelling Techniques for Large-Eddy Simulation of Wall-Bounded Turbulent Flows
Abstract : Large-eddy simulation (LES) is a highly accurate turbulence modelling approach in which a wide range of spatial and temporal scales of the flow are resolved. However, LES becomes prohibitively computationally expensive when applied to wall-bounded flows at high Reynolds numbers, which are typical of many industrial applications. READ MORE

2. Solar Type Stars as Calibrators : A Photometric and Spectroscopic Study on the Atmospheric Properties of Late-type Stars
Abstract : Detailed knowledge of solar-type stars is essential in the understanding of the evolutionary past, presence and future of the Sun as well as the formation of its planetary system. Moreover, solar-type stars are of key significance for the study of the evolution of the Galaxy. The ages of solar-type stars map the full galactic evolution. READ MORE

3. Inclusion Behaviour under a Swirl Flow in a Continuous Casting Process
Abstract : A swirl flow generated in a submerged entry nozzle (SEN) can effectively improve a flow pattern and heat transfer in a continuous casting process by using the methods of “swirl blade type” and “electromagnetic type”. In order to obtain a further in-depth understanding with respect to the effect of a swirl flow on a continuous casting process, the inclusion behaviour in a SEN and a mold was studied in the present work. 4. Inclusion Motion under a Swirl Flow in the Continuous Casting Process and Wire Feeding in the Induction Furnace
Abstract : The thesis includes the studies of two phenomena related to continuous casting. One subject is the inclusion motion in the submerged entry nozzle (SEN) and mold when using a swirl flow. The swirl flow is generated in a SEN by using an electromagnetic swirl flow generator (EMSFG). READ MORE

5. Prevention of type 2 diabetes : modeling the cost-effectiveness of diabetes prevention
Abstract : Background: Diabetes is a common and costly disease that is expected to continue even to grow in prevalence and health expenditures over the coming decades. Type 2 diabetes is the most common diabetes type and is characterized by insulin resistance and relative insulin deficiency. READ MORE
