  1. 1. On protein structure, function and modularity from an evolutionary perspective

    Author : Robert Pilstål; Björn Wallner; Maria Sunnerhagen; Mauno Vihinen; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; bioinformatics; structure; biology; intrinsical; disorder; protein; sequence; evolution; mutation; epistasis; function; allostery; dynamics; simulation; prediction; graph; network; bioinformatik; struktur; biologi; strukturbiologi; intrinsiellt; oordnad; protein; sekvens; evolution; mutation; epistasis; funktion; allosteri; dynamik; simulation; prediktion; graf; nätverk;

    Abstract : We are compounded entities, given life by a complex molecular machinery. When studying these molecules we have to make sense of a diverse set of dynamical nanostructures with wast and intricate patterns of interactions. READ MORE

  2. 2. Targeting and function of CAH1 : Characterization of a novel protein pathway to the plant cell chloroplast

    Author : Stefan Burén; Göran Samuelsson; Muriel Bardor; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Arabidopsis; chloroplast; endomembrane system; CAH1; protein targeting; N-glycosylation; Molecular biology; Molekylärbiologi; molekylärbiologi; Molecular Biology;

    Abstract : The chloroplast is the organelle within a plant cell where photosynthesis takes place. This organelle originates from a cyanobacterium that was engulfed by a eukaryotic cell. READ MORE

  3. 3. Sensorimotor function following anterior cruciate ligament injury : movement control, proprioception and neuropsychological perspectives

    Author : Adam Grinberg; Charlotte Häger; Martin Björklund; Dario G. Liebermann; Clare Ardern; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; ACL; knee injury; sensorimotor control; proprioception; functional test; fear; anxiety; kinematics; electromyography; EMG; electroencephalography; EEG; brain; neuroplasticity; injury prevention; Sports Medicine; idrottsmedicin;

    Abstract : Background: The high incidence of anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injuries in sports suggests an involvement of both biomechanical and neurocognitive risk factors. Athletes are constantly exposed to challenging sports scenarios, which are often characterised by high-intensity movements combined with a multi-stimuli environment and continuous psychological pressure. 4. 4. Satellite cells in human skeletal muscle : molecular identification quantification and function

    Author : Mona Lindström; Lars-Eric Thornell; Hannu Kalimo; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; satellite cell markers; NCAM; Pax7; MyoD; myogenin; DLK1 FA1; c-Met; human skeletal muscle; immunohistochemistry; muscle growth; muscle hypertrophy; Morphology; cell biology; pathology; Morfologi; cellbiologi; patologi; anatomi; Human Anatomy;

    Abstract : Skeletal muscle satellite cells located between the plasma membrane and the basal lamina of muscle fibres, could for many years, only be studied in situ by electron microscopy. The introduction of immunohistochemistry and the discovery of molecular markers of satellite cells then made them accessible for light microscopic studies and a wealth of information is today available. Abstract : Luftburna partiklar (PM) är ett problem för människans hälsa, där flertalet samband mellan negativa hälsoeffekter finns mellan luftföroreningar finns, bland annat för respiratoriska sjukdomar, lungcancer och kardiovaskulära sjukdomar med flera. I länder där dubbdäck används, till exempel Sverige, Finland och Norge, och sandning av vägar och gator genomförs vintertid för att säkerställa god friktion kommer en betydande andel av partiklarna från vägslitage och nedkrossning av sand vilket bidrar till PM10.
