1. The Membrane-Spanning Domain of Complex I Investigated with Fusion Protein Techniques
Abstract : NADH:quinone oxidoreductase, or complex I, is a large, complex and poorly understood bioenergetic enzyme in the respiratory chain of living organisms. The enzyme has a conserved core structure, comprising fourteen protein subunits: Seven subunits protrude from the membrane and contain a flavin prosthetic group and eight iron-sulfur clusters that guide electrons from the oxidation of NADH towards the quinone binding site(s). 2. Metal Affinity Peptides in Biotechnological Applications As tools in protein purification, protein stabilisation, metal quantification and metal tolerance of bacteria and plants
Abstract : Metal affinity tags have been fused to proteins and demonstrated to function as tools in protein purification, protein stabilisation, quantitative metal analysis and metal tolerance of bacteria and plants. In biotechnological applications proteins frequently have to function in nonnatural environments with harsh conditions which impose requirements for high stability on the proteins. READ MORE

3. Production and delivery of recombinant subunit vaccines
Abstract : Recombinant strategies are today dominating in thedevelopment of modern subunit vaccines. This thesis describesstrategies for the production and recovery of protein subunitimmunogens, and how genetic design of the expression vectorscan be used to adapt the immunogens for incorporation intoadjuvant systems. 4. Recombinant amelogenin - Strategies for purification and protein processing
Abstract : Amelogenin is an extracellular matrix protein involved in formation of enamel during early tooth development. By interacting with the forming enamel crystallites amelogenin affects their growth, so that highly elongated hydroxyapatite crystals are formed. READ MORE

5. Rational and combinatorial genetic engineering approaches for improved recombinant protein production and purification
Abstract : The bacterium Escherichia coli (E. coli) is in many situations an ideal host for production of recombinant proteins, since it generally provides a rapid and economical means to achieve sufficiently high product quantities. READ MORE
