  1. 1. The Idiom Principle in L2 English : Assessing elusive formulaic sequences as indicators of idiomaticity, fluency, and proficiency

    Author : Margareta Lewis; Britt Erman; Nils-Lennart Johannesson; Sölve Ohlander; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; formulaic sequences; attempted formulaic sequences; learners; native speakers; idiomaticity; fluency; proficiency; open choice principle; idiom principle; English language; Engelska språket; English; engelska;

    Abstract : The aim of this thesis is to explore and compare intermediate learners’ and native speakers’ usage of formulaic sequences, i.e. conventionalized and memorized combinations of lexis and/or grammar, here with a focus on written production of L2 English. READ MORE

  2. 2. Sequences in the process of adopting lean production

    Author : Pär Åhlström; Handelshögskolan i Stockholm; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY;

    Abstract : Does a manufacturing company have to concentrate on a few competitive priorities or can it excel at everything it does? The traditional notion of trade-offs between manufacturing capabilities has recently come under question. Based on the manufacturing management practices of certain Japanese companies, or lean production, it has been proposed that manufacturing capabilities are built cumulatively. READ MORE

  3. 3. Neural stem cell-mediated enhanced gene therapy of malignant gliomas using a novel plant thymidine kinase

    Author : Zahidul Khan; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : Malignant glioma; suicide gene therapy; bystander effect; gap junction; neural stem cell; 4-phenylbutyrate; epigenetics; cell differentiation;

    Abstract : Malignant gliomas are the most common brain tumors in adults. Approximately, 190,000 new patients are diagnosed with malignant gliomas worldwide every year. Unfortunately, the prognosis of malignant gliomas still remains very poor, despite advances in management. READ MORE

  4. 4. The use of evolutionary information in protein alignments and homology identification

    Author : Tomas Ohlson; Arne Elofsson; Sven Hovmöller; Geoffrey J. Barton; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Protein alignment homology sequence profile; Theoretical chemistry; Teoretisk kemi;

    Abstract : For the vast majority of proteins no experimental information about the three-dimensional structure is known, but only its sequence. Therefore, the easiest way to obtain some understanding of the structure and function of these proteins is by relating them to well studied proteins. This can be done by searching for homologous proteins. READ MORE

  5. 5. Phylogeny and species delimitation in Roccellaceae and Physciaceae (Euascomycetes)

    Author : Katileena Lohtander; Mats Wedin; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Systematics and phylogenetics; Systematik och fylogeni; systematisk botanik; Systematic Botany;

    Abstract : DNA sequence data (the ITS region and Group I Introns) from the nuclear ribosomal repeat (rDNA), partial β-tubulin gene sequences, RAPD markers, and some morphological characters were analysed phylogenetically in order to examine relationships in lichenized Euascomycetes, from the species level to higher taxonomic levels. The species level studies comprise some so-called species pairs in two families, Roccellaceae (Arthoniales) and Physciaceae (Lecanorales). READ MORE
