1. Mesenchymal heterogeneity in the adult human lung
Abstract : The human lung is a complex tissue consisting of a heterogeneous mix of different structures and cells, each which a specific role that together contribute to the primary function of the organ: the gas exchange. Different mesenchymal cells populate the interstitial areas around airways and blood vessels and form the connective tissue together with the extracellular matrix. READ MORE

2. Synchronized delivery of inspired nitric oxide : Effects on oxygenation and pulmonary tension during artificial ventilation
Abstract : Nitric oxide (NO) is a mediator of vascular smooth muscle tension that metabolises rapidly in blood. NO delivered by inhalation can therefore be used as a selective pulmonary vasodilator to relieve pulmonary hypertension or to improve oxygenation with no systemic effects. READ MORE

3. Intestinal Gene Expression Profiling and Fatty Acid Responses to a High-fat Diet
Abstract : The gastrointestinal tract (GIT) regulates nutrient uptake, secretes hormones and has a crucial gut flora and enteric nervous system. Of relevance for these functions are the G protein-coupled receptors (GPCRs) and the solute carriers (SLCs). READ MORE

4. Lithium-ion Battery Safety - Assessment by Abuse Testing, Fluoride Gas Emissions and Fire Propagation
Abstract : Lithium-ion batteries offer high energy and power densities as well as long life time but have a more narrow stability window compared to other battery types and contain reactive and flammable materials. In case of overheating the battery cell can release gas (vent) and, at temperatures of about 150-200 °C, a so called thermal runaway can occur, that is a rapid self-heated temperature increase which is typically accompanied with a large release of smoke and gas, fire and a potential cell case explosion or gas explosion. 5. Structural properties of the mastoid using image analysis and visualization
Abstract : The mastoid, located in the temporal bone, houses an air cell system whose cells have a variation in size that can go far below current conventional clinical CT scanner resolution. Therefore, the mastoid air cell system is only partially represented in a CT scan. READ MORE
