  1. 1. Particulate Formation in Gasoline Direct Injection Engines

    Author : Sreelekha Etikyala; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; PM; Volatileorganic compounds; Gasoline Direct Injection; Particulate Number; Alternate fuels;

    Abstract : Gasoline direct injection (GDI) engines are facing a great challenge because of the need to comply with increasingly stringent emission regulations while improving fuel economy. GDI engines are popularly known for their high fuel efficiency (by the standards of gasoline engines) and low emissions, enabling higher compression ratios and thus increased volumetric efficiency. 2. 2. Ultra-High Pressure Spray for Gasoline Direct Injection Engines

    Author : Akichika Yamaguchi; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; particulate emission.; gasoline direct injection engine; gasoline spray; high pressure spray; GDI;

    Abstract : There is an increasingly urgent need for vehicle manufacturers to reduce emissions from passenger vehicles to protect the environment and comply with increasingly stringent emissions standards such as Euro 6d, which came into force in January 2021, and Euro 7, which will probably come into force around 2025. Current emissions standards limit passenger vehicles' particulate number emissions to at most 6*10^{11} [#/km], making it necessary to find ways of reducing the engine-out particulate emissions of gasoline direct injection engines to meet this requirement. 3. 3. Challenges and Advantages of Stratified Combustion in Gasoline Direct-Injected Engines

    Author : Anders Johansson; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Particulate Mass; SGDI; Particulate Number; Direct-Injected; GDI; Particulate Sampling; Spray-Guided; Particulates; Stratified Charge; Gasoline; DI;

    Abstract : The modern world is based on an extensive transport network in which passenger vehicles play a major role. Although passenger vehicles have improved significantly in recent decades, they still contribute to the pollution of our environment and global warming. Consequently, new ways of reducing their emissions are needed. READ MORE

  4. 4. Chemistry of Combustion Products Investigation of Combustion Chamber Deposits Formed in a Gasoline Direct Injection Stratified Charge SI Engine

    Author : Farshid Owrang; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; gasoline fuels; SI engine; gasoline direct injection; stratified charge; combustion chamber deposits; engine oil; oxidation; in situ measurement; thermal desorption; GC MS; fast neutron activation analysis; spin-lattice relaxation constant; NMR;

    Abstract : The aim of this work was to characterize deposits formed in the combustion chambers of a gasoline direct injection stratified charge SI engine. The engine was run with several types of gasoline fuels and a special reference engine oil. READ MORE

  5. 5. Injection and Combustion of Alternative Fuels in Spark Ignited Direct Injection Engines

    Author : Lars Christian Riis Johansen; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; gas fuel; direct injection; E85; stratified combustion; spark ignition; alternative fuels; optical measurements;

    Abstract : Increasingly stringent vehicle emission legislation necessitates increasingly efficient combustion engines. The use of direct injection in spark ignited engines improves engine efficiency and reduces CO2 emissions. READ MORE
