  1. 1. Analysis of the Radiation Environment on Board the International Space Station Using Data from the SilEye-3/Alteino Experiment

    Author : Oscar Larsson; Bengt Lund-Jensen; Robert Seiringer; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Space Radiation; ISS; Alteino; Geant4;

    Abstract : This thesis presents an analysis of the radiation environment on board the Russian section of the International Space Station (ISS) using data from the SilEye-3/Alteino experiment. As part of the analysis the efficiency and response of the SilEye-3/Alteino detector was studied. READ MORE

  2. 2. Benchmark of simulation of an ion guide for neutron-induced fission products

    Author : Zhihao Gao; Andreas Solders; Johan Nyberg; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Fission products; simulation; Geant4; GEF; MCNPX; neutron flux; gamma spectroscopy;

    Abstract : Independent yield distributions of high-energy neutron-induced fission are of importance to achieve a good understanding of fission. Even though the mass and charge yield distributions of thermal neutron-induced fission are well known, there are few experimental data for high-energy neutron-induced fission. READ MORE

  3. 3. Characterisation of the Neutron Wall and of Neutron Interactions in Germanium-Detector Systems

    Author : Joa Ljungvall; Johan Nyberg; Andres Gadea; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Nuclear physics; High-purity Ge detectors; Liquid scintillator detectors; Neutron scattering; Digital electronics; Time-of-flight technique; Pulse-shape simulation and analysis; Monte Carlo simulations; Geant4; Gamma-ray tracking; AGATA; Neutron Wall; Kärnfysik; Nuclear physics; Kärnfysik;

    Abstract : A Monte Carlo simulation of the Neutron Wall detector system has been performed using Geant4, in order to define optimum conditions for the detection and identification of multiple neutrons. Emphasis was put on studying the scattering of neutrons between different detectors, which is the main source of the apparent increase of the number of detected neutrons. READ MORE

  4. 4. Development of New Approaches to ATLAS Detector Simulation and Dark Matter Searches with Trigger Level Analysis

    Author : Caterina Marcon; Partikel- och kärnfysik; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; particle physics; computing; Geant4; optimizations; dark matter; di-jet resonances; ATLAS; LHC; Fysicumarkivet A:2021:Marcon;

    Abstract : Elementary particles and their interactions are successfully described by the Standard Model of particle physics (SM). However, it has been observed that extensions Beyond the Standard Model (BSM) are required to account for a large part of yet undiscovered particles and interactions, such as Dark Matter (DM). 5. 5. Studies of Cherenkov light production in irradiated nuclear fuel assemblies

    Author : Erik Branger; Sophie Grape; Anders Hjalmarsson; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; DCVD; Cherenkov light; Geant4; Nuclear fuel; Nuclear safeguards; Fysik med inriktning mot tillämpad kärnfysik; Physics with specialization in Applied Nuclear Physics;

    Abstract : The Digital Cherenkov Viewing Device (DCVD) is an instrument used by authority inspectors to assess irradiated nuclear fuel assemblies in wet storage for the purpose of nuclear safeguards. Originally developed to verify the presence of fuel assemblies with long cooling times and low burnup, the DCVD accuracy is sufficient for partial defect verification, where one verifies that part of an assembly has not been diverted.
